I have been taking xanax since 1982?

by GIGI, Aug 29, 1999 12:00AM
All the doctors that I have seen, all told me that it would be dangerous for me to quit taking it after such a long time, it was first prescribed for panics attacks, at first 0.5 10 pills
a day, I am now taking 6 a day still 0.5.
I do not have attacks anymore just depression, for which I am taking 50mg of paxil.
i am sick of taking all of that.
Please help me.

Dear Gigi:

I was a user of Xanax in the 1970's until 1983, for Depression.  Yes, you can slowly get off your dependence of this pill if you have the desire too!  I was 17 years old when I kicked this habit, with the help of my Doctor.  It had taken me a year and 1/2 to get off Xanax.  It was my crutch.  I was up to 200 mg's a day and need more.  I popped them like candy.  The withdrawl was not so plesant, but kicking the habit of any type of nerve pill was.  Today, I am chemical free.  I wish you luck.

Sincerely,

Elaine
