I need to sleep

Does anyone know the best way to get some sleep.  I'm dying here.  So moody.  So tired.

Thank you everyone for the advise! I am coming off Vicodin, but now I am not sure.  I starting taking tramodol to ease the V. withdrawl.  I stopped taking that and now I am not sure what is making me feel so terrible.  I didn't take much of the Tramodol, but now I am hearing horror stories.  I took Valerian root last night and that helped a bit.  My biggest problem now is my mood and overall frustration with getting on with life as a normal human being.  I think we all take drugs for a reason..something is missing chemically, spiritually or both.  The energy to find that sober overwhelmes me.  Any thoughts.

Lack of rest was the most critical part of my experience using benzo's and sleeping pills (ambien, lunesta) during my 14 year treatment in an attempt to treat my fibromyalgia sleep disruption.    All these drugs gave me a second sleep disorder on top of my primary sleep disorder.
You didn't mention the drugs you're withdrawing from and I realize everyone is attempting to help but the fact is these mood altering drugs disrupt and over-ride your normal brain chemistry which control the sleep/wake cycle.    Until the drugs dissipate to a point that your brain realizes it needs to once again produce its own natural chemicals,  it will be rough going,  I've been there and done that.
Since the end of that 14 year experience,  I've become very outspoken about why the FDA and big pharm companies are allowed to shower these drugs on the medical community who freely prescribes them without telling the patient that taking these drugs will often put you in a worse situation than the one you faced prior to popping that first pill.

There's another OTC called Alteril. It works quite well. It contains Melatonin, Valerian root, and Tryptophan; amino acids and safe to take as long as you're not on an antidepressant.

Lack of sleep is just awful, I know. Some of the herbal teas are helpful as well. Read the label first. :)

Melatonin is what worked for me. I've withdrawled before and my biggest fear this time around was the lack of sleep..melatonin was awesome. I got atleast 7 hrs of sleep a night.
