I need to stop...please help

Hi there. I don't have a lot of time to tell my whole story, but basically I'm addicted to lortabs and percocets. I take about 10 a day, and more if I can. I've been through rehabs and detoxes a few times. Been in NA, but I relapsed again 8 months ago. It is ruining my life for the last time and ruining my marriage and my role as a mother. I need to stop and I need to stop now. I have really messed up my teeth and they actually cause the most horrible pain but I have no money to fix them cause of the drugs. I really want to fix them, if possible, before I detox that way I won't be plagued with this horrible pain and want to get high. I just really want to quit for so many reasons and I have basically gotten  caught by one doctor for going to see another doctor. I've never done this before and the other doctor didn't even give me the same type of meds. He gave me darvocets, but then he called me back today and said in a really freaky tone of voice, "next time you come to our office make sure you bring your other scripts you are getting from your other doctor". I almost fell to the floor. See I don't know if he said it that way to scare me and let me know I'm screwed or he was sincerely telling me I needed to let him know about my other doctor. What is going to happen now? Am I going to get arrested or something? I don't even know how he found out since I didn't even use my insurance. Still, I want to quit now before something really bad happens. I cannot go into detox for personal reasons I cannot share, but I do want to try the suboxone. I'm just wondering if this is something that is covered by insurance? I saw an advertisement for it in my doctor's office. I have done research on it but I'm just wondering if it's covered by insurance since it's expensive. I really need to beat this for good this time and any answers will be appreciated.

And please no harsh criticisms. I've read certain posts here before that were pretty mean and cruel and I'm not hear looking for that kind of help. I will not start drama if that happens I'll just ignore it, but I'm just really asking for help and answers please. Thanks so much.

I just got free of Oxcycontin, pretty high doses, using the suboxone. It works really well, BUT you have to understand that it is addictive too. Plan on getting off it next. The withdrawals are much milder. Good luck!  - Talyn

Thank you all for your responses. I think my insurance covers it. I have really great insurance and if I did want to go to rehab they cover it 100% the first time, then 20% the second time, and they do outpatient too so I figure maybe they cover the suboxone. Also it turns out the doctor that I get my prescription from is one of the few doctors here that can prescribe the sub so when I go to fess up to him then maybe I can talk to him about it. I'm still just kind of scared about the whole seeing two doctors and getting caught thing. I haven't been able to sleep about it. It's just weird, cause a year ago me and my Husband used to do this all the time and nothing like this ever came up before. I didn't even go see a ton of other doctor's...just one..and he didn't even give me the same strong thing. It's just weird, and I wonder if I'm flagged or something and if I will have legal problems from it. I just hope that the sub works and stops the withdrawal so I can function throughout the day. I know that once you stop the sub you kind of go through withdrawals again and that scares me. It also scares me that I have to be in withdrawals when I start it cause I have a kid to take care of and no help. But I guess I will do what I have to do. My husband is an addict too and for the first time he has agreed to go to NA meetings with me (he always hated them) and he really wants us to do this the right way this time for us and our kid, and that really helps a lot too. I haven't been ready to quit for a long time, and for the first time I am actually ready. Thanks everyone.

when you call around to the diff dr's in your area that can prescribe suboxone, ask them if the treatment is covd by your particular insurance ... i have the insurance but they won't take it for treatment ... but make sure you ck out the prices for your initial and follow up visits .. mine 275 for the first 3 visits ... 65/mo + 10 for urine drug test ... alot cheaper than some of the places i called .. some wanted 300 just to come in for the first visit and then 100 per month ... if you have rx covg, that will help out a great deal, since they are the most expensive of the whole thing ... i have a 10.00 copay .. a friend of mine doesn't have rx covg and pays amost 250.00 for 45 pills ...

as far as your dr goes - it doesn't really matter if you didn't use your insurance - they have other ways of tracking patients if they use cash too .. dea requires you to either give the phcy your drivers lic or your soc sec# when getting these types of drug filled ... so - they track the info that way .. my aunt works for a dr and they get a report every month of all their patients and it shows whether or not they are seeing a diff dr and what kind of meds are being dispensed too .. so, it is traceable .. now, if you're giving them fake information - such as name, soc sec, ect .. you can possibly be facing felony charges .. i'm not saying that this is going to happen, this is just some of the things that CAN happen if ppl are not careful .. i think you realized that and won't do it again ... anyways, everyone gave you some awesome advice about the suboxone and where to go to find information and a doctor ..

good luck to you !!  i know how you are feeling and it sux big time - it's not a way to live ... i've been on suboxone since april, 2007 ... it saved me and it can save you too ... there are soo many wonderful ppl on this site who are also taking it and have great advice and knowledge of the treatment .. you won't regret getting on it .. you'll wish you would of done it sooner ... pls let us know how you're doing and if you can get into a dr for the sub ... peace!!!!  traci

I live in Southern Cali and I have Kaiser, they do NOT cover it, I called around to many doctors and got quotes on how much suboxone treatments are... The highest I got was $500 for the first visit, $300 for 8mg of 30 pills and $100 doctor visits after that...... Well that was too much money for me and some docs I told said, " well I can drop the price for you" So that  told me that most of these docs just wanna see how much you will pay..!!! So be careful out there and do your research... I ended up finding a women doctor and its about 1 hour from my house, but very worth it... I paid $150.00 for visit, then I paid $150 for 8 mg-- 30 pills, and her re visits are only $75.00   She was strait up with me and I will probably only see her 2 more times and get two more refills and be done... Iam very commited to getting clean because I have relapsed before....www.Naabt.org is a GREAT site they will find doctors for you.....Best of luck to you let me know how it goes:)

Your physician may be able to give you some hints to handl the withdrawal.  If there is any way that you can go into a detox for a few days and then maybe do intensive outpatient along with support from you family and friends - that may be the answer.  If there is no way for you to go into detox, I think that your family doctor is your next best choice.  Good Luck and God be with you!

Some insurance covers Suboxone -mine did.  I wouldn't worry about getting arrested.  I'd just do exactly what you are doing - take this as a wake up call and make an appointment with a Suboxone doctor.  You deserve to feel better.  Spend your energy getting clean - the suboxone is also a pain killer and may help with the pain you have when you get your teeth fixed.
I wish the best for you!

I can tell you that I am looking to start the suboxone here in Colorado and my insurance does cover it.  So hopefully yours will too.  I too am a wife and mother of 2 young children and my addiction to methadone and pills have ruined my life.  I feel like a terrible mother with no desire to do anything and I can not remember the last time I was actually happy. I am scared to embark on this new journey in fear of course, of the withdraws.  But I have to change my life before my kids are all grown up and I have wasted away half of it.  Good luck with everything and my prayers will be with you and your family.

I don't know if insurance covers the suboxone, but hopefully someone here will. My opinion you should come clean with your doctor and let him know you want to be free of this addiction. I think when people ask for help it is very hard to turn them away. There are so many people here going thru the same thing. We understand and don't think badly of you at all. I've been in your shoes. I don't think you are going to be arrested, but call your doctor and tell him of your problem and that you really want to get clean. You sound as you have had it with the pills and addiction and are ready to do this and you can. (hell if I could anyone can) Hang in there. I'm sure others will post with more informed advice than me. My thoughts are with you.
