Hey Everyone,
Sorry I haven't been around much the past few days, but it's been crazy around here! Lots to keep me busy, which is good! I know you've all been through w/d for painkillers, but have any of you ever quit smoking? Are there any w/d associated with quitting smoking? It is 8:17, exactly 24 hours since I quit smoking. ( cigarrettes, I never smoked pot...it made me paranoid, lol) I have only smoked a few years, and never tried to quit...is the RLS I am starting to feel just in my imagination? Someone please tell me it is!! All I keep thinking is "Here we go again"...I've been clean from painkillers since Dec, and I HAVE NEVER forgotten the w/d's...and the thought of going through that again is scaring me...for those of you who have quit smoking...are the w/d's the same as from painkillers? Someone please answer..I'm starting to panic!

Hey Em, funny you should say that about pot cause it did the same thing for me.  Is quitting smoking the right thing to do right now... I couldn't during detox because I could not sleep.  I don't really smoke but do chewing tobacco.  nicotine is nicotine.

But hey, if you can great... You know the benefits.

Its soooo hard!  lol

Congrats though, I can't wait until I quit - I'll probably use the patch ~LOL

God Bless You,

I think it is great that you quit. I too have smoked for a very long time and am about to find out just how much those little cigg breaks may have screwed up my plan. All the power to you.
God Bless,
Gypsy

Thanks, guys! As usual, people here always come to me rescue!!! I really appreciate it. I am feeling very anxious right now...and yes, eating like a pig. It's disgusting, lol! But I'm thin, so that will hopefully help. I just feel anxious and rls and major cravings...obviously, nothing compared to painkiller w/d's, but uncomfortable just the same.

No, the withdrawals are nothing aloke. Maybe a head ache, and of course the cravings, maybe a little tired, but that should be about it. Didn't have the RLS when I quit smoking, but definitely anytime I'm in hydro withdrawal.

Try to relax, I know it's hard, but you aren't about to go through those kind of withdrawals again.

And Thank God, right?  :)

I quit smoking once before...and pretty much only had cravings...maybe a little trouble sleeping, but nothing to the extent of insomnia. You should be ok and more power to you. Keep up posted and let me know how you are coming along.

Good Luck sweetie...

I quit smoking a year ago February.  I decided that I wanted to quit and so I did and I never looked back.  I wouldn't allow myself to even think about smoking - I just put it completely out of my mind because, no matter what, I was never going to smoke again.

I don't know what RLS is, so I can't comment on that, but I didn't have any withdrawals.  That's because if smoking ever entered my mind, I immediately put it back out of my mind again.  I never let myself dwell on it.

Nicotine is very addictive but it's not impossible to beat. The cravings do go away. But you have to truly want to quit.  That is the most important thing.  You can use the patch, gum, support groups - anything you think will help.  And these things can really help you to quit if you want to.   But if you haven't made up your mind that you are going to quit, then you won't.
