ADDICTION: SUBSTANCE ABUSE COMMUNITY
I requested a leave for stress and substance abuse

I requested a leave for stress and substance abuse

I am in a field that requires a lot of pin point decisions and loads of stress-
I submitted a request for leave of absence to address my abuse problems.
My employer states that he would not contest it, yet it was contested for what he states a random drug test request. There has not ever been such a test or request. I am paying for my counseling by myself, no funds are comming in because management denied un-employment. Do I have any rights

I would not think so as most companies reserve the right to test u if wanted to//or randomly..in my field it happens often so it is not a shocker to me...but i am sure for most it is not common place//but does not mean they can not do it...u will have to sign sumpin/if u did not at date of hire///thing is if u do not do it..or sign it..then there will be he11 to pay
Why did you tell ur boss ur reason for taking time off?  Honesty is the best policy, i agree...but sometimes i dunno bout that...as mentioned drugs are a touchy subject...altho many lose jobs over alcoholism as well...hind sight is 20/20...if u seek treatment and did all the right way..i would think u would have legal grounds//unless u have sumpin in ur test that is positive for sumpin u do not have a scrip for...then u will be standing on shaky ground cos u would not look good in court....we r not lawyers tho...as mentioned//google it

let us know how it goes
