I think I may have a problem...ned advice

by avonkitty, Feb 12, 2008 11:23AM
I have realized lately that I may have a problem with dealing with reality and have been self-medicating myself. Alot of times at night I will have up to 6 drinks alone taken in addtion to my prescription Xanax and ambien. The few days ago I have decided that I need to quit drinking so much so now at night I see myself taking about 1.5mg of xanax with a 10mg of ambien till I pass out.
I take zoloft to treat anxiety and depression as long with the xanax. I worry that I may have a further issue and feel like my life goes in horrid cycles where at some times I am fine keep my home clean, pay my bills on time, never miss work and dont date and then I will go to another extreme where my home is a mess, my accounts are negative, I dont go to work for weeks and I sleep with multiple people at a time.
I am so sick of living like this and I am a 29yr old single mom so therefor I cant go into a treatment center. PlEASE I need advice on how to stop these cycles and be okay at night without having to be intoxicated.

Hi Welcome to the forum.

How long have you been on Zoloft? Maybe you need a newer antidepressant/anxiety med. You also need to ask yourself what are you hiding from by making yourself pass out each night?

You're a mom. You have to get yourself straighten out for your kids. I know you don't want to go into a treatment center but there are some times when it maybe the best thing. Do you have any family to turn to?

Well I have tried pilates for the past 2 days and feel good. I am on day 5 with out a drink and am slowly trying to taper off the pills. I know the only person that can help me is myself.
