I think I need help...

Well, I started taking Tramadol a few weeks ago, and I feel like it has already taken a hold of me... and I am scared. I was taking Oxycodone and Vicodin following a major abdominal surgery, and was beginning to feel hooked on those... And that is why I figured Tramadol was going to be safe for me. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS DRUG WAS SAFE AND NON-HABIT FORMING! I have gone from taking 2- 37.5mg pills, to taking anywhere from 15-25 37.5mg pills a day, plus 4- 50mg tablets of Benadryl at night so I can sleep. I get these prescribed 120 pills at a time... and I can see where I am headed, but I cannot stop. I am finally realizing that I may need some major help.
I guess I was hoping that I could get some guidance and help here, since I have nobody to disclose my problem to... So any support would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Well, I can honestly say that coming here to this website has realy made me realize that I have an out-of-control problem... So, on my own, I have decided to get off of this roller coaster, and try to quit taking these pills. I guess now I need some advise on how to do this... I don't want to cause my body serious damage, but I know that I cannot just stop taking this medication. I have read some more information on withdrawl of tramadol, and I am terrified... But I know I need to get this under control for my health. Any suggestions or comments or personal stories would be ever so helpful. Thanks for all of the info so far...

How long were u on the oxy bfore this few weeks of tram use?  a few weeks of tram use if not extraordiarily high in dose can be flushed RIGHT now

I really do beleive addicts are deficient in a certain area of the brain..others can take trams or oxy for a short time and be ok..but we can not..and that crosses over to any other substance as well..we just can not use responsibly

If someome says thier taking ultram/tramadol 37.5 it has 325mg tylenol in the pill.(called ultracet) ultram or tramadol 50mg doesn't have anything but tramadol in it.

tram and ultram are not different. ultracet has has tylenol and tram.  tramadol is just tramadol .ultram is just a brand name for tramadol

wow never knew that tram and ultram were diff. learn something new all the time. so tram is worse on liver? are they equally abused ? or is one prefered over the other?

at least swap to plain ultram, that way your not poisioning your liver with the tylenol. then wean off.

welcome to the forum.. I was Happy to read you went to your Dr. and tried to get on a non addictive drug.. to bad the doctors do not research what they dole out.. my own Dr. tried to offer me these as non addictive.. I have found getting off the meds completely was a better way of judging the actually pain that I was in.. You are consuming a lot of tylenol along with the pills that can have a lasting effect on your liver not to mention kidneys. Tramadol when taken in large quantity such as this should be tapered.. also from what I have read depression is a big part of wd from these.. You have been honest with your Dr. so far.. be honest with him again.. tell him you would like a taper schedule and would like to get off all pain meds. as addicts we consume we will abuse.. Please seek help read the forum and post.. gain support through this process..  lesa

OK it has 325 mg of tylenol the max amout of tylonal you are supposed to take daily is between 3000 -4000mg a day so 15 pills is 4875mg to 25 pills that is 8125 Plz go to your doctor tell them about your problem and have them check your liver counts

How much Tylenol are in the pills .Best way to do it is to reduce one pill a week however I am very worried much Tylenol you are taking seen as it can be toxic to you liver.

I am new here but that sounds like a lot.   If you do not feel like you can handle this yourself I would suggest that you talk to your doctor about it.   Keep posting and talking about it it seems to help.
