I think I need potassuim

Hi folks, I know on weekends not many on but my legs are killing me. I'm getting major cramps, day and night. I taking 1 potassium pill 99mg. 1 daily, It says on bottle not to exceed more then one a day. Do I dare take more or any other ideas? BTW i'm on day 27 clean off hydros and tramadols, this has just started in the last 4 days. Not sleeping well at night yet to many body aches. If anyone has any ideas please let me know thanks.

It sounds like you need magnesium and calcium. I like the 'Natural Calm' with calcium. Supplement stores carry it. Drink some Gatorade too. Restores electrolytes. Eating bananas and kiwi ups the potassium.

DO NOT take too much potassium it can cause a heart attack.  The cramps in my legs are actually helped by swimming, and walking.  I don't think a few bananas or some gatorade will hurt...but be careful.  Love  Jerri on day 12  

Get melatonin from the drug or grocery store.  I took 6 mgs last night and slept real well.

Have you tried taking hot baths with epsom salts? Also I swear by the ace bandages, wrap them from ankle to knee firm but not to tight that helped my legs more than anything.
The Epsom salts force the magnesium into your system, I think...whatever it worked for me.

I agree with both GTMI and jerri...My doctor told me not to take more potassium then as directed EVER.....Have you tried walking...My biggest w/d symtom was RLS.., and i still have it sometimes, but not often...I would stick to mag and calcium , and bananas...And also try to work those calve muscles , get in a nice hot bath, then bed....

the thing about potassium in fruit is you never hear about OD on potassium from them. At least I haven't. Always be careful with supplements, though.

I only have info about old folks like myself...but My friend has never taken potassium pills.  Her potassium was up to 7...which is enough to cause a heart to race, and to have an attack.  That is unusual, but it does happen.  I on the other hand can eat 4 or 5 bananas and not have a problem....so it just depends.   Jerri

thanks to all who posted, I have been eating the bananas and taking hot baths also have been walking some. will try to walk more throu. But I'll try the rest and see what will work for me. thanks again to all who took time to post.  terri
