I also have been taking xanax for along time. I used to tell myself I just used them to sleep. I didnt. I used um get the buzz. Ive quit quite afew times. Im on them now though. I dont take um during the day but I do at night to go to sleep AND catch the little buzz they still give me. Its wrong I know. Im fighting an oxy addiction as we speak and they are helping me sleep and just not take oxys. I do plan on quiting xanax as soon as I feel like I got the oxys under control. When I did quit xanax before I did taper. I did it in 3 or 4 days. I honestly had no issues. I slept pretty good. It took longer to fall asleep but I slept fine. Ill be ready to quit very soon and could use a quiting buddy. Maybe we can get those xanax out of both our lives at the same time.? You can quit them. Just taper down and be safe about it. You do owe it to your boyfriend. If they are impacting your life in a negative way you owe it to yourself too. I wish you the best and meant the quiting buddy thing. Im almost ready. Im 19 days off oxys and ready to get ALL pills outta my life. Weird question. Do xanax hurt your sex drive? It does mine and I want it back.
HI .......I use to be on xanex for 5 yrs at 4mg a day its tuff to get off of you cant just switch to a long acting benzo .....xanex hits its own brain receptor and if you just switch to a long lasting benzo you will go there withdrawals with xanex it comes in 1mg .5mg and .25 mg
what your doctor will do is drop you by .25 over a months time and eventually bring you off like that that how they did it with me slow is good with xanex otherwise you risk seizures if you have any question or need help just P/M me and I will try to answer your questions good luck and God bless.....Gnarly
That is a long time to be on xanax. They need to be tapered down slowly. I strongly suggest you talk to your dr about a good taper plan. There are many here that came off them with success. Good luck
You have built up a tolerance over time and they no longer provide the result they were originally intended to do. You say 12 years, I am surprised that you are now just realizing this. My gut says you've been going through this for years now. Your max of 7 doses @ .5 is 3.5 mgs a fairly hefty dose. You should have never tried to go CT from them. It has to be done gradually or your doctor will switch you to a longer acting benzo to make the process a bit more tolerable. If you really want to finally get off of this, you have to consult with your doctor and set up a plan to wean down, etc.
omg i feel for you girl.. i used to have the BIGGEST xanax problem ever and still crave them to this day.. im immune to them as well and can take up to like 11 at once after taking them for so long.. but my boyfriend made me get off of them bc they were turning me into a mean person i guess.. i just got so careless about stuff.. so anyways i still think about them today and ive been off of them for like 4 months and i wish i had some right now but gotta repsect the bf.. it sux! I'll be ur friend to talk to about it tho
Well, there are friends here and I am one of them. In the addiction community there are people who can help you with your addction. If you let people there know what is going on with the meds, they most likely can help. I would advise to consult your doctor and let him know you want to stop taking the xanax and would like to know the best way can. Regarding anxiety and panic, feel free to message me and I can give yo some tips/techniques that should help. Other than that, i can be a friend to talk to.
