I want to get high ha

I'm defiantly feeling the mental aspects of the w/d symptoms now. I'm on day 11 going on 12 and 75% of the physical withdrawals are over for me (I think) I fell asleep at 7pm and woke up at basically 3am so that was just amazing, some good natural long lasting sleep.. Unless I'm on the Go I'm constantly thinking what can I do to take the edge off of wanting to be high.. Idk whats worst knowing your craving a high, or craving a high knowing you have a lot of things you need to get done. I swear I wish I was at that 30 day marker instead of 11, that being said it is getting a tad very tad bit better every day, I want to have a few beers but I want to wait awhile and make sure I'm past all this first atleast a good part of it, I havnt went this long since my sophmore year in highschool without being high on pills, weed or booze so it's a life style change for sure, times like this wish I had netflix and 2 weeks off work...although I have 6 more days until I return back to the good ole oil rigs, in that 150 degree west Texas heat i might call in a week sick, I understand I need to stay active but that type of work is to much unless your at 100% (which I'm not) still feel weak from time to time. Anyone up

Hi  I read your post and agree with nursegirl the addict in you will always be there in a moment of weakness it will consume you this is a disease that will continue to try to kill you... will power does not work very long if it did we would not have this forum just because you stoped the pills does not equal recovery addiction runs deep inside you and has to be treated for the rest of your life it is a progressive illness that only gets worst with time and many not only loose the battle but also there lives.. it is up to you to put some sort of aftercare in place you need to change the very way you think...for me N/A has been the answer im well over 1800 days clean but  in the morning we both are faced with the same question..''will I use or stay clean'' this is a daily process and I often say put as much into your aftercare as you did in your using and you will be fine you need to know this..you are powerless over your addiction and your life has become unmanageable step 1 of N/A keep posting here google a N/A meeting in your aera if nothing else just lissen you will be amazed at what you learn and how much alike all of us addicts are the same  congrats on 12 days that is a great start  but your mind is already relapsing as we speak time to do something about it

What I'm actually surprised about is there's not a pain killer like these that are not addictive... Better yet why the doctors haven't come up with something to get rid of the cravings/withdrawals after someone quits taking them.thats a real question

It probably is a bad question to ask but I saw another post were someone asked that,so I was curious... One thing I know is my will power is really strong!! So if I can get through these withdrawals I know I can get through the mental.. Now idk if il go 30 years not ever taking one again (for medical purposes) but if I did have to one day I would now know what it's like to be addicted. Example don't listen to the bottle (1 every 4 to 6 hours) if I took them for a couple days stop for a couple days, never increase dosage if you take the pill and it does nothing stop for a week or however long it takes for it to work again. I'm just saying if I do make it to my older days I would know about these pills and how to manage them safely.. I'm detoxing from them now because there's no need for me to take them, I don't need them and I'm addicted so that's why I'm quiting.. My goal is to just let life happen without these pills il go years without these pills again. Idk if anything I said made sense or if it made it seem like I'm going back to them one day or what but I'm not if I can help it... So almost day 12 without meetings just me and god and you all. Next thing you know il be saying 30 days then 90 days then 360days... I just look at it like this it's all in your head, you DO have the power to say NO to the pills. It's all about the will power if you can get that in your head then you'll make it even at your weakest moments. It's just how I look at it

"How long does it take for your tolerance to go back down completely to where if I were to take 1 hydrocodien it would be as if it was my first time?"

With all due respect, that's not a productive topic of conversation, for you or anyone else here.  You may THINK it's an "FYI" kind of question, but I promise you it's not.  It's your addict brain making some plans.

11 days is awesome.....just keep going.  You really need to get into some kind of addiction program to help you start dealing with the cravings.  They will get better with time, but you have to address them, acknowledge them and deal with them when they pop up.

Stay away from alcohol completely...for many many reasons...ONE, the obvious, you're an addict...alcohol is addicting, and it already sounds like you've abused that in the past as well.  TWO, alcohol is a depressant, it will make you feel awful emotionally the day(s) after.  THREE, your inhibitions will be diminished when drinking, which will EASILY lead to relapse with the pills.  It's a lot easier to talk a drunk mind into doing something you know you shouldn't, than a sober one.

A common topic of conversation here is how to LEARN how to live a sober life.  How to get used to not being impaired in some way.  THOSE are the kinds of questions you need to be asking the folks here.  That's also another reason for aftercare.  Check out an AA or NA meeting.

Hang in there...best to you!!!  ONE day at a time!

Great job. Don't trust your thoughts, they'll take you right back to H*** every time.
If I were you I would get up right now & go to a meeting & really get to work.
Hang in there. It only gets better.

How long does it take for your tolerance to go back down completely to where if I were to take 1 hydrocodien it would be as if it was my first time? TRUST me I don't want to take one ever again I'm just trying to pass time and curious as to how long it would be before my tolerance is back down to a normal persons. I don't want to go through this again ever again, I'm not even done withdrawals but I do know I'm done with pain killers!! Just friendly conversation if anyone wants to have one..

Hey James, morning......I def agree with jifmoc .....on the beer thing....just another substance......I relate what you're going through now bud but be forewarned man, I'm feeling like you are and I'm over a year in........it's beating the h3ll outta me.  I'm not in a position to get out to meetings but I know I need to do something fast.  My addict brain is in constant "search" mode.  What's killing me on one hand (my seclusion) is actually saving me in another sense....(can't get to anything)

Yes people have brought up aftercare, and I have been searching online for places I can go "idk what to call it opiate anonymous or what" when I'm looking online, I hate morning times nothing good on television everything is closed so I'm just laying here which is the worst, ya I know my brain will be looking for another thing to abuse such as beer or other drugs but damn does a cold one not just sound good.. Tell me about you, what day you on and what were you taking.

Hey, James. 11 days: good job. Just to remind you: you are still VERY new at being clean, your brain is going haywire from not being numb. Your emotions will be all over the place. And yes, of course you feel like using. But don't.

Now is the time for aftercare my friend. I'm sure folks on here have brought that up. What have you thought about? No one stays clean and sane w/o aftercare (meetings etc.) It will help w/ your cravings a lot, too.

I highly suggest staying away from beer. Or any mind-altering substance. It's just gonna set you back. besides, you're an addict, if you pick up another substance, you are just gonna start a new addiction and be right back here.

Keep posting:)
