I want to quit Vicodin and Percocet after only taking them for six months

I started taking vicodin in April of this year.I started only taking 4 vicodins on the weeknds for two months ,than i started taking them every day starting at 5pm,i never took them in the morning.Sometimes I would go without taking them for 2 days,4 days cause i couldn't get them.for the last two months i would take 6 to 8 pills in a day.7.5 mg vicodins.Sometimes i would be taking vicodins or percocet, which ever one was avaliable at the time.I started tuesday cold turkey but I got so sad yesterday that i was crying alot.I dont feel pyshical pain but I do feel emotional pain.I started to take them just for fun.But I want to quit brfore it gets worse....PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!

Don't think twice about "maybe I can have fun for a little longer"...QUIT NOW.  So many people have gone down the same road you are walking down right now...and end up dead, in prison, or hopelessly addicted.

Quit now...it feels like the 7th layer of Hell but it won't kill you it will only make you stronger.

I very wise person once told me..."It's simple. CHANGE OR DIE.  There really is no other way with these pills..."

It's true...PLEASE make the right choice and just quit CT right now, and never look back.

You can do it! I'm on day 5, and i'm starting to see how pointless the whole cycle of addiction is. My mood is perking up here & there too. If I can do it, so can you! Hang in there!

I took Vicodin recreationally for 10 years. It was never an issue until I crossed
over into full blown addiction 2 years ago. I won't get into the details of what lengths I went too to get my pills but I can tell you it was pretty ugly.
I am so glad you are stopping. Just try and remember that addiction is cunning. We think we can handle a few but before we know it, we have gone to great lengths to get our drugs.
Try and not be scared of the WD. It will be what it will be. Just think you have the flu.  There are a lot of over the counter remedies you can take.
You can do this!!!!

Go to the main page and look up the Thomas Recipe. I took multi vit, b comlex, liver detoxing herbs, Imodium (immodium)(liquid) and a ton of gatorade. Dehydration will make WD symptoms worse. I drank it all day long for days.
There are other things on the TR you can take.
Take it one hour at a time, which turns into days, then weeks.
You can do this!!!!

You can do this!!!!
I never thought I could but most people here have thought that and look at all this accumulated clean time.
They cycle of addiction always gets worse, never better.
Take this one day at a time. When you crave, just tell yourself, just for today I will not use. Before you know it, you have a month. It's so amazing how I couldn't imagine one day without my Vic's, now the days fly by and I'm clean.
I don't know how I lived that way. But I take my life one day at a time. It's manageable that way.

Welcome.....Many here have given you some great advice!  Do me one favor though......Stick around and read some more posts from people that have been taking them longer than you.  Read what they are going through and how difficult it is once this addiction gets its talons into you.  I was just like you years ago where I knew I had a problem but still liked the feeling the pills gave me.  I would of given a million dollars to of stopped where you are now!  I was nieve in the fact that I NEVER THOUGHT IT WOULD HAPPEN TO ME!!!!  I read the posts of people that were taking 100's of mg's a day for years and how hard they had it.  Then, a short few years later I was right where they were.  The longer you use the harder and LONGER detox will last.  If you are on day 3, you should start to feel better quickly.  Keep taking your supplements and try to get as much exercise as possible and once you get some clean time under your belt.....RUN.....RUN like heck and never come back to this dark place of addiction to pills.  It will lead you down a path that I would not wish on my worst enemy.  Like I said, stick around a bit and read more posts and see how people are suffering.  I detoxed 100's of times off of 150-200 mg's of anything I could get my hands on.  I even detoxed off of methadone almost two years ago!  I am over 6 months sober now and am still not 100% but am soooooooo much better than I was the first month or two.  I love my life now but I know that I am an addict and I CAN NEVER have anouther pill again no matter what.  You are now an addict too so keep that in mind if you ever find yourself looking at a handful of them.  Do not allow yourself to ever say "I have done so good and I deserve a few" the next thing you know, you will be back here on this site 2 years later, trying to detox once again and this time.......IT WILL BE HELL!!!!  Congrats on the foresite to see that there is no life on pills......Keep up the great work.  Good luck and God bless!

Like everyone else has said, it would be best to quit now before your habit gets any worse. I too started taking vicodins on the weekends to recreational reasons. Within a year I was snorting oxycontin, and within a year of snorting the oxycontins I was shooting up heroin. Your withdrawals will suck, but they can and will be much worse if you continue. The longer you use opiates, as well as how much opiates you use (which tends to increase with time), both affect how bad the withdrawal will be. Your not in TOO deep right now, so get out while you can!
