I was HOPE!

by blueyz, Jan 07, 2008 06:09PM
Do you guys remember when Hope went through her liver issue?  Well, I am day three home from the ICU after the same happened to me.  I don't remember anything, I was two steps from heaven's door and the Lord kept me here for a reason.  I was hours from a transplant if things didn't clear up and I could still not pull through.  Friends and relatives were called to say what they needed to say, even though I wasn't coherant.

Just a thought guys....I wasn't even using heavily when this happened and had even made a SUB appt for the 27th (dec)!  The acetamenaphin...builds in your system to a toxic level and you could be too far gone by that point.  I GOT LUCKY.   Do what you can do get control now, before it's too late.  I'm 14 days clean now and don't crave and feel like I have my personality back.  One heck of a way to do it, but it's done!  Oh yeah, they did say no tylonel or alcohol for now until they do the liver biopsy which is tomorrow....

Just thought I'd check in

I know your struggles~

We all live and learn.  I was not keen enough about addiction to the kinds you could get.  Now, I know that tylenol is off limits for me and will tell Dr's such.

Yes I'm aware.  I'm also aware some don't read both sides and I think this story should be shared to all.  Thanks for pointing out the obvious IB

I have a question.  I got really scared about a month ago when my urine started smelling bad.  Is that my liver?  Since I have cut back on the tramadols it has gone away.

My urine wasn't a symptom until after I was outta the woods, but Your body could be trying to get rid of the extra in the system.  Not good.  Like I said, try to make a plan and start fresh.

wow!! I am so glad you are ok! what a horrifying thing. I worry about the same happening to me because most of my heavy usage for about 2 years all had high doses of tylenol including the darvocets which have 650 each!! I was taking 8 of those a day every day forever, and then the vicodin 500 mg each, 10 a day which is 5000 mg of aceto.  they say the daily cap should be no more than 4000. And I did this every single day over and over again. Im still scared something could go wrong with my liver. just cuz you stop taking doesnt mean youre safe from liver failure!
Thanks for sharing your story and Im sure glad you are alive, lived to tell,  and doing better!!!!!!!

Well as far as the transplant list. I was told later that the region I'm in can happen really quickly.  Within days even.  I am still pill free and feeling better than I did when on the pills.  My mind is fresh and I know the lesson I learned was a tough one and I can'[t put myself or my family through that again. It's terribly selfish.  Now Im just getting better day by day.

Take care
