ADDICTION: SUBSTANCE ABUSE COMMUNITY
I was truthfull

I was truthfull

I went to my doc last week and came clean on my addiction to painkillers. I told him I did not want him to give me anymore and needed help getting off the drug. I also went as far as calling all the pharmacies in milwaukee and told them that I was addicted to painkillers and not to fill any more scripts.

My doc was not any help he told me there was no such thing as addiction that it was only in my brain. He also said that I need to tell the devil no the next time I have the urge to use.

I still have not stopped I am to scared of what might happen to me. Rehab is out of the question, and what will a doctor think of me that has never seen me before say or do when I tell him I am here for help with opiate addiction?

I have good Insurance are there Docs out there that specialize in this sort of thing that I can go ask for help.
Or do I need to just go c\t.
Something has to be done I cannot go on like this forever.
I know I have a problem my family knows I have a problem.
I guess that is the start to recovery.

I am going to a Methadone Clinic for my addiction to Lortabs and it's the one of the best decisions I've ever made. It very well may have saved my life and my unborn baby's life... Try looking one up in your area. Let me know if you have trouble finding one, I'll help you :)

matine,
thanks for the info.
I will do the quick detox for I dont want anything more to do with this ****.
For a minute I thought I was going to have to goto a meth clinic.Thank God I dont have to,I really heard some bad stuff about that.Whats cool about the suboxone is that I found a doc that is just a few blocks away he accepts my insurance and the meds are covered as well.
It just sucks that I have to wait until the 9th to start.
Im sick at the thought that I have to keep in contact with the sidewalk pharmacy and how much more money Ill have to spend on the habit,But I can honestly say that I am now seeing some light at the end of the tunnel.
I cant wait to wake up the first day and not have to pull out the bottle of percs.Im going to start taking vitamins to get my liver back to normal(you should to) All these pills cant be good for it.
Onemore thing I cant wait to see what the hell the people are going to do when they stop getting $400.00 a week from me,There just going to have to go back living like the caveman.(lol)
Keep up the good work and let me know how you are doing soon.

I have an appointment to get on the Suboxone Jan 9th. I called almost every clinic in milwaukee and everybody and thier grandmas are on it. (WOW) I didnt think so many people were hooked. Well from all the stuff I read about this drug withdrawl (withdrawal) will be a slice of cake. I dont like the fact that I have to keep on taking the percs until then.
But what are you gonna do?

If you read my last post. Then I am in Madison and have a list of Doc's in Wis. who can script Sub. Just so you know I am on the  third day of Yankee's plan. Today is the third day. So far it is going as he says. Will update on day 4-5-6-7.

Cool. I will still keep you updated so you knew how it goes. Remember you can do a short Sub. or a Long drawn out two year Sub. Your choice.

Who! Hold on there. You jumped the  gun alright. Man most Docs. are unhelpful. My main doc. of 15 years, that is right: 15 years, turned me out to the cold damp night and I have a pain Doc in his same office that he knew about.
Anayway that was a rant and not helpful to you. In a word so far: suboxone.
Check it out on the web, then get back to me and I will explain how to  get them. Until then here is a post from Yankee about how to use them for a rapid detox.
I pretty much had the same exact experiences of you. I started off taking percocets and moved up the ladder until I was snorting 500-600 mg's of oxycontin a day for about 2 years. I told my parents that I was having a problem with it and they sent me to a detox. While I was at the detox the NA meetings came up to me and really helped me realize what I had to do to stop. First of all you should either go to a detox or find a doctor around you that will prescibe you suboxone. It really works well if taken properly. I have my own prescription to suboxone because I had tried to quit several times before going into the detox. A lot of doctors dont or cant prescibe suboxone properly. If you can get your hands on them. The proper way to take it is wait till you are feeling withdrawal the first day and take an 8mg sub. Find multivitamins that will help you with detoxing you can find them at any vitamin store and take them through the process. The second day take 4 mgs in the morning 2mgs in the afternoon and 2mgs at night. The third day take 2mgs in the morning 2mgs in the afternoon and 2mgs in the evening. The fourth day take 2mgs in the morning and 2mgs in the evening. The fifth day take 1mg in the morning and 1mg in the evening. On the sixth day take one mg at around 6pm. After that the withdrawal should be gone but if not it will be very easy withdrawal to get through and tylenol will take care of the aches for the next couple days as needed.

I will keep you posted. Right now as I said I am on day three. Felt good all  three days but tonight my head feels woozy. But this is due to the fact that I have cut down to 2mg Sub. I may be attempting the impossible by detoxing in 5 days. Will know in two more days. Not a huge problem as I have an abundence of Oxy. sitting around. And a Doc's apointment for the 2th. All I know is one way or the other I am detoxing. I have a life to live and Oxy's are not traveling with me. Maybe Jim Beam.

Hey F:
If your doing the 'street walk' u don't have to wait until the 9th. You can buy 8mg Subs. in Milw. I did. Bought 7 and am using Yankees detox program. As I said so far so good. Just so everybody knows the 8mg Subs are orange rectangler imprinted with 'N8' on one side and scored on the other. Also since I am on day three and down to taking 2mg sub three times today it is so far working. I started day one  taking 6mg in the morn and 6mg at night. The next day was 4mg in the morn and 2mg in the afternoon and night. From my research the Sub. has a half life of 36 hours, I take to mean that the 6mg I took the first night was running at  half speed when I took the 4mg the next morn. On down the line. You can do the math. I bought 7 which cost me $100. I should have a few left in case I hit a brick wall.

In my opinion, I think you have "jumped the gun" by telling your doctor and calling all the pharmacies.  You are really forced to quit now, which is a good thing.

I would not have severed the life-line so early in the game though, I would have tapered slowly and just gave the pills and scripts to someone I trusted to hold for me and if I were successful and actually "came off" then I would tell my doc no more painkillers and flush the pills and scripts.

The less people who know the better in my book, that's just my personal feelings - I'm sure everyone has their own opinions.

GOOD LUCK!

Im getting in sooner now.On the 3rd. I have 10 10mg percocet 5 30mg morphine and 45 tramadol. I do not have to go back to work till the 2nd,and the doc told me I cant use that day anyway.
I think Im in pretty good shape going into next week.

I can honestly say now that going into the new year will be pain pill free.

I never told my doctor I was addicted because I knew he'd take it personally--he'd been okaying the refills.  I think that is part of the problem.  No doc wants to admit they helped you become addicted.  However, I think another doctor, even if they don't specialize in addicion per se would be helpful or refer you to someone who will be the most helpful.

I think it's awesome you admitted your problem.  I never admitted it to anyone, except myself.  That takes tons of courage.

Find a good doc, and take care.
