IM GOING TO DETOX FACILITY IN 6 HOURS

I have been taking oxycotin for 3 years it was prescribed to me by pain managment dr. for chronic back pain and fibromyalgia. I take it 3 times a day like clock work as prescribed and have percocets for breakthrough pain which i basicaly was taking daily.  I have tried everything to figure out my pain and relieve it from injections, medication even a spinal cord stimulator.....which my dr. sucked at placing and i ended up losing all my spinal fluid a very tramatic painful experience.  Anyway i started reading up on opiod induced hyperangelsia because my pain had progressively gotten worse, as well as my sensitivity to pain and have decided to get off these meds! yay! For one i'm very depressed, two I hate something controling my life, three i have changed into a hermit because of the medication and four if for any chance my pain can improve I will do it!  I'm nervous, scared and excited! Can someone please tell me WHAT TO EXPECT FROM ENTERING A DETOX FACILITY AND WHAT THE DETOX FROM OXYCOTIN IS LIKE?  I check myself in in 6 hours and would appreciate any help or support you guys can give me.  Thank you!

Hi Fibrogirl,

Congratulations on taking the next step and welcome to the forum.  Detox centers are all different in the methods they use for detox, but you should be well taken care of.  There are lots of good centers in the area where you live.  I went through a detox a little over a year ago.  Mine lasted 8 days and it was much better than going cold turkey on my own - been there - done that!  Trust and listen to what they tell you.  Get involved in your therapy and get working on a program.  The worst mistake you could make is to detox, leave, and think that you are cured.  Unfortunately addiction is a life long disease.  There are some awesome people on this website who can help you through each step of the way - we are here to support you.  Best of luck to you!!!
