IV drug user

My husband has been on various narcotics for about 8 years.  He has legitimate pain syndrome and a history of cervical fusion about 7 years ago.  We've been in 2 MVA's since and he has recently been referred to another surgeon - appointment is next week - for further surgical intervention on his neck.  There is definitely a physical issue going on with his entire spine.  Nevertheless, for about 2 years he has been taking his Morphine Sulphate - 100 mg pills - and crushing them, cooking them, and injecting.  Last Saturday night he woke me up asking me to call an ambulance because he OD'd.  I've called all the inpatient treatment programs around and none will consider admitting him until he goes through pain management.  I had him see my physical med and rehad doctor - who has all the pain management connections...but he just referred him to the surgeon!  There is no way any doctor is going to do surgery on someone who is actively shooting about 850 mg of straight Morphine a day!!!  Do I have to leave him and take our son to force him to see what he is doing to himself?!  He left the hospital early because they weren't giving him enough Morphine in his IV.  Any words of advice from others who have been in similar situations is greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

Welcome ,
I can tell you are in a lot of pain .It is very hard to watch someone you love get lost in drugs. He really seems to be stuck between a rock and a hard place .No surgery if he is taking that much ....no rehab without pain management .Do you think he wants help? You have to put your self and your son first ,he is the only one that can decided he wants help. Stick around read the posts this is great support here ...
