If only taking 1/2 - 3/4 clonapin a day.. can I just stop?

Klonapin has a big bump factor even at very low to almost invisible doses. A lot depends how long and at what mg you were using. I had tapered to 1/4 mg and quit after a couple weeks at that small level. I am not sure it was medically necessary to go that low but it made me feel more secure about quitting. There is no rush.

its a benzo used for anaxity//other uses i am sure , i took it for a year for anaxity...its a longer acting benzo

did you taper this low...if this is your reg mg than you need to taper, if you have tapered this far i would suggest you keep tapering down to a very small peice, benzos are dangerous and sould not be stoped suddenly

Lee, I took them for a year now.. the 1 mg tablet.. some days I would take two, other days I would take one... I am down to less than 1 per day.  I cut it up into 6th, very small sections.  Yesterday I took four 1/6th.  That's more than 1/2 - 1mg.  I'm quitting the norcos.. I was taking 6-8 norcos a day for many years.  After visiting this site last week, I can now say that I am down to two a day.  : O )  Last week I cut down to 4 norcos. . now I am only taking 2 ... I think that's pretty good, considering I was taking 6 to 8 a day. It's the clonapin I am worried about.. Is there a lower dose of klonapin than the 1mg I should try to get to quit?????????

I'm with you... I am scared of quitting these.  I want the lowest dose available and then cut that way down too...

I cut down (literally cut the 1mg pill into 1/4 and ONLY TOOK ONE A DAY. So you really can keep bringing it down until your total mg A DAY is only 1/4mg. Also you might want to wd from the norcos FIRST. Since the klonapin will help soften that wd. At least that is what I would do. I once ct. everything at once including alcohol, benzos, narcotics, and it was horrible and hellish. So I am very careful to go slowly, ask medical advice about taper schedules and be patient.

Keep in touch. The klonapin wd is different than a narcotic wd. and for me I would want to separate the experiences and be clear what I was feeling and why.

You are doing great. Klonapin wd is unpleasant but doable and over in 10 days usually except for trouble sleeping. Good Luck and try not to be frightened; people here can support you so keep reading and posting.

Jillian, thank you so much sweetie... What you said has really put me at ease and I am not so scared anymore.  I have taken these drugs for so long.. accident in 91... Your help is appreciated more than you could ever know... I have been so scared... The doctor ignores my calls... wants me to take that saboxne (sp?).. I won't do it, not after what I have read here.. I am sure the doctors get a good kickback from prescribing saboxne... it is a very expensive drug I've heard.  He lost interest in me since I said I was not interested in the saboxne.  Again, thank you so much Jillian... I don't know what I would have done without this site.. God bless you all...

I sware I feel like I am on LSD and SPEED, combined with a most horrible flu ever.  I never thought of quitting taking the pills until I realized I was going through constant withdrawal even while taking them.. Once I quit these I wil NEVER ever ever take them again... This pisses me off really..

I have been taking the Norcos/ vicodin since 1991 when I was in an accident.  The Klonapin I have been taking for about a year now.  I was taking xanax, but some new doctor didn't like me taking xanax and prescribed me klonapin.

Klonapins they gave me to replace xanax... for my nerves.. klonapins make you feel like you are drunk if you take a whole one.  That was what it felt like to me anyway.  I didn't want to stop taking the xanax.. but once I really was forced to stop the xanax, the klonapin looked real good.  I started liking it, despite myself.

I would try to stop the Norcos first before the Klonopins.  I wouldn't suggest stopping both at one time.  If your doctor will help you, you can get a prescription for .5 mg, like half of one of your tablets, then go down to .25.  I've seen prescriptions for klonopin that low.  Then, you can start taking one every other day, one every two days, etc.  It's a slow process but they are dangerous.  Especially when you factor in the possibility of seizures.

i may be able to help some... i used klonopin to come off of Norcos/lortab/etc.. to deal with the w/d from those... and got hooked on klonopin in the process. I will say (not to scare you or anyting) - but coming off the klonopin was WAY worse than the hydrocodone. I only used them for about a month, but was taking the 2mg pills up to 2-3mg per day.. and to be honest, sometimes i was using them to get high.. the feeling of well-being from them was great, not whacky like xanax more smooth... didnt really taper them too much - and when i quit, i had HORRIBLE rebound anxiety for almost a months. Just terrible. I read online that it is a very addictive drug and you cannot just quit taking them,  espcially if you have been on them for a while. You can get siezures from cold turkey stopping benzos.  The half life of klonopin is like 33 hours or something, so each day you take them, half of it is still in your body 33 hours later.. and that compounds each day.. so its har to get off of them, you need to SLOWLY wean off of them

they say if you can to switch to Valium from klonopin because of the shorter half-life and lower dose equivalents (i.e. you can get different milligrams for valium and calculate how many of each = a klonopin)... if you can get those, try maybe?

just be very careful stopping benzos.. i swore i would NEVER touch klonopin again after the horrible anxiety i got stopping them, and i only use for a month or so (but at large doses)

I take 1mg at night and have for many many years, I remember a few years back when I tried to stop cold turkey and it was the WORST feeling ever. I thought since I was on such a low dose, that it would not be so bad...Boy, was I wrong...I was tingly all over, had a horrible headache, dizzy, could not sleep...So, I went back on them. Someday, I hope to stop all together. I talked to my Doc and he said to take one one day..then half the next..keep rotating...then go to half every day....then half every other...it takes a few months according to him...but I would ask your Doc about your specific sitch.....
