Just my thoughts, but I would say nothing to anyone else abt. quitting the pills, or being addicted to them. It is amazing what can be put into your medical files. Some others Doctors may not think the same as others do. I too wish you had tried to tapper off the pills some before trashing them. Some just can not tapper tho.
Best wishes

So I've given up talking to doctors and looking for help that way. There are of course real reasons to tell the doctors that are treating you for pain or if you are planning surgery. Chronic pain is the complicating thing in all this.
Also neurologists are not typically people people and don't like to hear about problems too much. They really are instrumental people and just want to solve stuff.
You ask a difficult question. I really don't know which way you should go. But if this is for pain management you need to be honest. If you don't like the answers get another opinion. You need not be intimidated by your physician, remember you are paying him. Sort of like hiring a plumber; he works for you.
Also, no one listens to their husband's "Professional Advice". Don't worry about it.
Keep working at this. You will be feeling better and thinking clearer as the days go by.
