I'm Ashamed & Scared

by markbrewer38, Oct 07, 2007 04:04PM
Hello to all.  I have been on this forum once before in June of 2007 because I had a problem with Hydrocodone and was going "cold turkey."  Everyone was really helpful and I was able to make it through the wd.  Now, I am embarrassed to say, I am back for the same reason.  I have one 7.5 Hydro left and tomorrow is a work day.  I know I do not deserve  it, but would truly appreciate anyone that has some helpful words of encouragement as I move toward a predictably terrible week.  Thans

Nothing to be ashamed about..we've all been there.  If you can do it, get yourself to an ER and explain your situation and that you want help getting off of these things.  Ask for clonidine..a blood pressure med that has been VERY helpful to many of us with the withdrawl effects.  It will make you drowsy, dry mouthed and lethargic for the first few days.  But it CAN help.  I took my last pill on a saturday..went to the ER on Sunday afternoon and by that night had my clonidine and almost immediately began to feel better.  I even made it to work the next day, though staying awake was a bit of a problem.

Please keep us posted, and best of luck..we're all pulling for you.

Hey Mark, Maybe you could talk to a doc and get some clonidine and ativan?  That's what worked very well for me during one period of all this.

Thanks for the words of encouragement.  Today is day #1 (cold turkey) and so far so good.  I feel a little sluggish...but overall, pretty good.  It is still early, so I am hopeful this time is not so rough.
