I went on lexapro about 2 weeks ago after I bottomed out with depression. I have been on them before, they started losing their effect after a couple of years or so. I may be wrong, but I think maybe you should take them for awhile to stave off any mental depression from the w/d's from your other meds??Anyhow, that's what I'm going to do. It is possible to taper from the lexapro by splitting them in half, but you'll still have some of those annoying "brain zaps". Those go away gradually within a week.

she didn't say! She said here are 20 boxes of samples with 10mg pills in them. Start out with half and then increase to a whole pill! Didn't say for how long!

Thanks guys/gals I just wish I had been informed sooner by my dr. Ok well tonight 5mg instead of 10 for me! I guess I should be thankful that I'm not taking the norcos anymore!!! I'm off to take the doggie for a walk! Not looking forward to the brain zaps... I'm already a spacecadet as it is:(

lexapro takes at leat 2-3 weeks to start building up and working as an anti-depressant..so since youve only been on it for a month you should have no wd's from it, you could have mild discomfort but its all mental, its all in your head.. congrats on day 13 you are absolutely over the hardest part the wd's should be non existent, the only aspect will be the mental part of wds. It will create pain, cravings, anxiety, restlessness, etc..and that will last for at least another couple of months up to 6mths to let your brain heal from opiates changing your receptors and the capability of feeling pleasure..you got to give it time to heal..the lexapro will not aid the opiate addiction in any way other than if you ahve depression outside if just the addiction then it will help with your depression and general mild anxiety..it has absolutely no recreational effects, there are no good side effects from it..you wuill feel nothing, you will have basically only negative sideeffects, alot of ppl have their brains shake in it and during wd's, you willl have no sex drive either, my gf was on lexapro for voer 4 years so ive been through it all-christos

congrats on 13 days!!! way to go...do not go c/t from the lexapro, you need to work with your dr and taper off them. there could be serious side efferts if you just stop them c/t. you are doing good. lexapro is helping you w/d from the norcos. Good luck, keep fighting the fight, post and keep posting we are here for you. take care
