I'm getting off oxycontin RIGHT NOW!!!

by Utah Lisa, May 15, 2007 12:00AM
So I've been on pain medication for 8 years starting with lortab 7.5 a few times a day then it went up to 4 lortabs 4 times a day then of course morphine, methadone, now finally oxycontin, but with all other meds there was no problem getting off of them or feeling any dependence. I've now been on oxys for a year and a half and started out with 80mgs and now upto 400mgs a day the whole problem started with some friends of mine wanting some so not being smart I gave them one and when I took mine they laughed because I swallowed it. and they said no no you take off the coating then you crush it, and thats where it all started and now it consumes my life I have dreams that I go to jail or something happens to where I can't get my meds and I freak out and everytime I go out I take double then drink with them. So here I am I have two weeks between jobs and I REALLY want to get off of them my family knows and they are very supportive. If anybody has any comments they would like to give that would be great, because I'm really scared because I do have pain and it's so much apart of my daily life I just hope I can make it. and in advance Thank you to everyone.

Hey,
Good luck and I pray that you go through this with as little uncomfortablness as possible if that's a word lol.  I have to get my butt in the shower quick, I have to be at work in 50 minutes but I've been so wrapped up in the forum that I lost track of time lol... I will be on a little later on this morning if you wanna talk.  Take care and god bless, hugz, Lil.  :)

Hello friend - sorry no real advice, just praise.  You are very smart and very brave.  I pray that God gives you the strength that you will need.  It is going to be hard (I'm sure you know), at the dose of Oxycontin you have been taking.  Is there no way that you can check into a rehab (have any insurance?).  All of us here will do all we can to help you through.  Good luck dear.

Love, Cindy

The most common word on this site is "scared". a word i have used many times.  Believe me sweeite, we all have or do share that feeling.  At the levels you are at, i would suggest seeking medical advice.  Im sure a doc can make it easier.  Like someone else said, if you cant do that, this board is gladly here for your support.

Thank you and your right I have been reading all of these forums for the last couple of months just wainting for the moment to arise when it's perfect for me to get off of pills I just hate it because I do have cronic pain but with it being summer my pain will be less and I'm not taking them how I should be taking them I just hope that I do get controll of my addiction and one day I will beable to take them when I'm in pain like I used to I'm just so pissed because for the longest time I used to give everyone sh*t because where I'm from everyone is addicted to pill or crystal meth and I could allways take them for six years and take them for a month or less and then not take them for a week and so on and so forth. But anything anyone has to say is awesome and I'm very hard to offend so Please no one hold back I'm sweet single and loves to mingle. Also I have another question I also get perscribed valum, somas, and lortab which I don't have a problem with at all I hardly ever take them I usually give them to people who don't have insurance who need them every once in awhile. But do you think that any of those would help. also I have like ten suboxne, do you think any of those would help when it gets bad cause I did withdrawl when someone stole my car and I'm sure they were stooked when they found 60 80mg oc and 150 30mg oc, 90 10mg valum, 90 somas and 30 10mg lortab so I was hurting for a couble of weeks and it was the most experiance pain. so do you think any of thoses above mentioned pill helped other then the oc of course?

I would love to be able to go to rehab or seek medical help, but this is the problem my doctor and I have talked about seing if I take suboxon or subutex or how ever you spell them that I will never see me again and nor will any other doctor in utah for pain meds. And this is what I'm hoping is that I will be able to take them when I need them because I do but not the way I'm taking them and the other reason I still need them perscribed is my father has very cronic pain and no insurance so I'm hoping that even though I know it's not right that I can start giving him more of mine because he is spending about $1000 a month on his doctor visist and meds so I don't want to be cut off from getting any ya know what I mean? and my doxctor also does a check on all meds I get filled and makes sure I'm not going to any doctors any where and even if I have to go to the ER I have to go the hospital he works at part-time if I'm in the valley, but no pain meds from any doctor for any reason.
