Im new here and need help please! Pain pills while pregnant

I am 24 weeks pregnant with a beautful baby girl ( first time mommy ) my obgyn has me on percocet 10s ( i have major back issues as well as Interstitial cystitis so painful without the pain meds i can't even get out of bed sometimes )  I take up to 4 a day..  i started taking them at 15 weeks.. my question is will my baby be okay? Will she be born addicted? Is there a certain amount of weeks i can stop taking them so she won't be addicted? My sister won't even talk to me due to the fact i am on percocet while pregnant.. she says im selfish and a bad mother.. she told me they will keep my baby no matter what.. is that true?  Every ultrasound i have he says she is very healthy. I feel and see her move and kick.. I have spoke to my ob about this and he just doesn't seem concerned at all he keeps prescribing them to me telling me that everything will be fine... I feel like it will be up to me to wean myself off I just don't know how..or should i just stop completely all at once? I feel so lost..  I feel like a horrible mother :( any help would be amazing!

Your OB is prescribing the pain meds so CPS wont be taking your baby.  It is when their are surprises at birth and the mother hasnt been truthful.  Whatever you do please dont just stop taking them as the baby feels everything you do and then some.  Many times our pain actually does increase the longer we take the pain meds.  It is a game our brain plays with us. You are taking good care of that baby girl so try and relax.  Let us know how you are doing~

the stress of being in pain could stress the baby...it is a balance ..taking the pain meds may make the easier for the baby.  Good luck.

Thank you so much atthebeach yes my ob is the one who gives them to me, i am on 40 mg a day sometimes less ( just depends on the day) i haven't tried to take them with otc medicine but I will try! Maybe that way i can lower what i am taking per day even more! I want to be completely off of them by the time im 28 weeks.. im just nervous i won't be able to ( before i was pregnant i was on something stronger when i got pregnant i stop taking it and my ob freaked out when he found out and put me on the Percocet) but my goal is to be completely off by 28 weeks or only be taking like one a day so that my daughter chances of being addicted go down.. if thats even how it works.. the pain is terrible but i think it will be more of a mental thing for me.. its almost habit at this point.. get up take one  ( so i can function) middle of day take one ( to keep the pain away) around 7 take another then at night take one to sleep... so i think that will be the hardest part..

I try talking to my OB and everytime i do he kind of brushes it off like its no big deal and that she will be just fine.. but in the back of my mind i know her chances of being addicted are high unless i stop.. thank you so much for replying to me it means alot!♡

Congrats on your pregnancy. As long as they are prescribed and you take them as directed childrens services don't get involved. Don't excede your dose. Try to take the least amount as possible each day. Use ice, heat, massage, exercise, yoga to also help. Don't quit cold turkey you could miscarry. Use the percs with otc pain relievers.
You have taken 40 mgs each day? For 11 weeks? That is a low dosage. We have many women here who have been in the same position. No one knows for side if the baby will be born addicted. Try to relax and take care of yourself.

Those are good questions to ask your OBGYN.  Having said that, I would not stop taking the without her knowledge and consent.  Your Dr. prescribed them and she/he will be able to help you decide when and if you should take them, etc.  I am sure your sister has only the best wishes for you, but she needs to butt out.  IMHO! :)  I am sure others will be by to comment, just wanted to let you know there are real people here and we do care.  Congrats on your pregnancy.
