I have been on ultram (the generic did not work...now i know why) for almost have of my life. My leg was ripped of in a car accident 17yrs ago. I have taken the pills as directed ( 2 3xs a day - 300mg bad days 400mg. ) I agreed to these b/c they were not a narcotic. Lol (sarcasm) I believed I was doing the right thing.  They worked ar first. That seemed to change over 10yrs ago. I believe I have had severe depression and anxiety for 10 yrs b/c of these things.  Even though doc says ...aww no not possible. I have come off of other things in the past and this **** does not compare. I FEEL for those taking much higher doses.  I did not know I could find them on the Internet.  Thank God.i just recently found out about the new law when I researching depression and bipolar on ultram. Anyway I am getting off the great white lie!!!!! I will be doing a 13wk taper and xmas day will be my jump off day. I hope to do this holistically and nutrionally.  I will post in my journal also if you want to read. Anyone with similar story or any I would like to hear.

Good for u getting off this stuff!  We are in this together as I am going through the same thing.  Praying for u!  Just keep coming here and asking for help and advice.  Since I started on this sight almost 2 months ago my eyes have been opened like I never imagined possible!  U can do this!

I don't have a similar story but I just wanted you to know that I am praying for your success. I've taken all prescription opioids at one time or another and your characterization of this drug as the "great white lie" is so accurate! Safe as fire and gasoline. Somebody should pay for the deceptive way this stuff was marketed and prescribed. Yes codeine withdrawal is bad, hydro is worse, percs, fentanyl, Demerol...But it's all clean, messing essentially with one vital aspect of your brain chemistry.  Ultram hits you on two or three levels and really screws you up for a while. You are making a good choice. Your plan seems very wise.  Wishing you all the best!
