Thanks everyone for your comments, thanks so much for the kind words as well. I'm going to just stop taking the Imodium for a day or so and see how it turns out. I may take just one lax later, but only if I feel more that I have to.
Though I did take more than the usual dose it's helped so much, but as many in above posts have mentioned it can depend on the person annnnd larger doses don't help dependency. I've also been taking Benidryl to help me relax and have my nose stop running and stuff.
Do you think amino acids/fish oil would help? I'm thinking of getting some of that and some epsom salts(and maybe some therapeutic candles).
I stopped taking Morphine at about 12 noon on sunday May 5th. I'd been using for 2 months gradually taking more till at the last day I had half of a 100,(I took bout 50mgs). It's may 9th now and I know Morphine Sulfate lasts longer in the body, so I think I'm on Day 4 technically just started.
Just gotta stop the Im for now and try to stay positive-o. Thanks again guys. Any back up is much appreciated. <3
I know there is a lot of testimonies of taking high doses of imodium to help wds. From what I've read it sounds possible for it to stave off some of the wds. But what you need to realize if this is true in high doses, why would you. You risk too much. Either god forbid starting a nee addiction or prolonging the reality of it all.
I don't think taking the recommended dose would cause problems for a short bit but taking high doses could. And I think you would benefit from just jumping in the pool of hell.
Wds SUCK no matter how you approach it. But you will feel so much stronger when you break on through to the other side. ;-)
Don't get me wrong you can make wds easier by feeding your body good things. Multi vitamin, omega-3's, and coconut water.
Good luck, hang in there it does get better I promise.
Agree with all of the above. If you take it as directed, it will sinply do what it's supposed to do, which is to help with the diarrhea. It won't worsen or prolong w/ds.
There are the claims that taking very large doses of it helps greatly to reduce w/d symptoms. THAT is a horrible idea, whether it works or not. Just take it as directed, and you'll be fine.
The key to taking Immodium where it works best is to take it immediately after each loose stool (up to the recommended daily dose). Some people wait it out, and it won't be as effective that way if you let the diarrhea get very severe before taking it.
Couldn't agree more with the Above Posters. Immodium is usually a necessary component in an opiate addict's 'withdrawal war chest'. Don't worry about being backed up! That will change, my friend. Like Sarah, said: Hydrate. And I would add 'Hydrate & Hydrate Again' (2 to 3 liters a day.) If you develop the runs or vomiting, all the more reason. Also, eat healthy fibrous non-processed foods to help clean yourself out and start the healing you & your system so deserve!
Immodium will not extend withdrawal. There are a lot of myths out there. Only people who take it at inappropriately high doses and for extended lengths of time, experience these types of things (at least, to the best of my knowledge.)
Best of the Best to you and congratulations on your 2 + days. You're doing great! Hang in there. We're here.
I agree not to overuse it....but some of us can't make it to the bathroom. I think it's necessary at times.
I also used Imodium during the physical wd..it helped so much. I know its supposed to help with wd but ive never heard of it prolonging them. Just take as directed and discontinue after a few weeks/ when no longer needed.
And like domino said def dont go taking any laxatives or anything like that or your life with go from miserable to a living hell the diarrhea on its own is bad enough without the help of a laxative. Try some vitamins and I always found gatoraid or poweraid to help due to the electrolytes in them they will help you stay hydrated and also help cleanse your body faster
I have never heard this before I used Imodium aggressively for the first week of withdrawal and it helped a ton I mean I wouldn't suggest just taking it to take it by any means but it will help you and unless u are different that a lot of others you should have no ill effects from it
Good Luck and Godspeed
Immodium does help with the diarrhea. I wouldnt go and take a laxative. Let your body flush itself right now. Make sure you are drinking plenty of fluids also.
