In pain and need advice

by bandnmom, Jan 05, 2008 09:53PM
As most of you may know from reading my posts I am 32 yrs old and suffer from bad arthritis that i ended up getting from getting Lyme disease years ago that went undetected and caused joint damage. Anyhow with the weather lately my arthritis is so bad and usually I'm on vicodin but ever since admitting i actually had become addicted to them I can't take any. Any suggestions on what else I can do. Due to the arthritis meds i'm on i can't take advil or aleve or anything else along those lines. My doctor gave me Lyrica to take but it's not doing anything yet. He said it can take up  to 4 weeks to actually work which obviosly doesn't help me out now. Any advice is appreciated. I'm suffering and have 2 small ones to take care of.

I am sorry you are hurting .I wish I had a good recommendation .I use a combo of aleve and zanaflex it works ok  I see that you can not take the aleve what do they have you on .I have tried sooo many NSAIDs
none that really worked any better then aleve. I would make an appointment with your doctor as soon as can to see if there are any other good options .I am hoping too that you find with more time that the pain lets up . good luck

its to bad when you can't be honest with your dr. and tell them you are addicted....i have two bad discs, and although its true your body becomes addicted your mind and soul cannot. never tell your dr. you are addicted because it is their responsibilty to cut you off, they don't want to be held responsible.
