Is This Withdrawal Again???

Posted earlier about using vicodin for 7 days exactly as prescribed 7.5/325 four times a day and dtopping because ibuprofin is holding my pain but i am starting to have really bad anxiety and panic llike i did when I c/t almost two rears ago am I going through withdrawal again or is it all in my head from fear of the withdrawal? it has been well over 24 hours since my last pill I am not physically sick but the anxiety and panic is getting to me. Will I go through withdrawal again after such a short time or am I seeing ghosts where there aren't any?

it's  a possibility that the vicodin may have triggered some anxiety, but because the Bupe blocks the mu opioid receptors and prevents the hydrocodone from bonding to the opioid receptors, it's most likely the anxiety caused by the acetaminophen or ibuprofen in the vicodin. Acetaminophen especially makes me jittery after taking it for 3-4 days then stopping, along with the typical Tylenol headache, and that's just extra strength Tylenol without any opiate.

You may also have a little bit of a psychological response because in the back of your mind you are leery of taking any opiates after your experience with them.

If you are on a low bupe maintenance dose, or tapering,  You generally have to take  a larger dose of a  full agonist opiate to get any benefit from them for pain, because it has to overcome the bupe to bond to the opioid receptors, which is only partialy possible at low bupe doses, and not possible at all on larger ones such as doses you first started taking to quit your vicodin habit in the first place.

You can read more detailed information about using full agonists for pain management while on bupe in the tip40 treatment protocols which you can find here:  http://www.naabt.org/links/TIP_40_PDF.pdf

Hopefully readng that and understanding exactly how it all works will ease your fears and help stop your mind from playing tricks on you.

Hi snowflake, I agree with the above statements. Thankfully you were only taking them for a week. I know how powerful our minds are and I used to completely loose it when I ran out of pills. Anyway, deep breaths, big pats on the back for not falling into another full blown addiction and get out and walk if you can. You have incredible inner strength!!!!

Hi Snow , I want to say that we are all different when it comes to stopping opiates .  I was on a dose just a little higher then yours and I had problems with anxiety and a little panic . But as Bkleen said 7 days is not so long to have such adverse effects but do you have a preexisting condition with anxiety ? If no I have to believe this will fade pretty fast . Read some of my old post and you'll see my problems with this and maybe get a little insight too !            Take care , Jimmy

I think it is all in your head. I can't imagine you would have any serious withdrawal symptoms after a week. Why invite trouble? Since you said you are not physically sick, move on and enjoy yourself.

Maybe get out a take a brisk walk or do something that you enjoy doing.
