Is it the suboxene?

Your forum has raised alot of questions in my mind. I have been off oxycontin for over 2 yrs (the last 3 months @  480mg with no affect) and after 2 weeks clean, I was so weak, sick, & desperate, ,I had to try something else. Believe me when I tell you, I researched everything - everyday I received an IV of vitamins, minerals, and isotropes to help my body fight the addiction, and I researched what was really happening to me during those minutes that seemed like hours. I decided, after much deliberation, to use suboxene to help me battle what I was feeling. After 2 months, I was cutting the smallest dose in half. I am still taking this amount to this day.
I feel like I have lost something and want to get it back so badly. i wonder now if it is the suboxene. My doctor has told me that opiates affect everyone differently since they change the chemistry in your brain... and the effect of feeling euphoric is remembered in one's more than another's - therefore it may alter them forever... much like the stories of "acid"  people have experienced hallucinations several years later after experiencing it 1 time.
I take 1/2 of the smallest ml. daily - it seems "withdrawels" occur daily around 5pm. No one believes that I stll experience withdrawels - they think it's all in my head because the dose is so low. It's not the same feeling as the withdrawels from oxy - thank god - but it calms the anxiety and allows me to focus.
I'm so sad because I feel like I will never be normal again.

:You are not going crazy ----  It is the Sub that is causing the problems ----- I had the same thing.   You WILL be normal again -- it just takes some time.  Allow yourself to heal -- the body is great at healing itself - but not overnight.  I can guarantee that you will return to your OLD self.   I am more alive now than I can ever remember being and I too took Sub --  It is one wicked drug because it deceives the addict into thinking they are cured---- Sub only delays the W/D's you would have had-- and when they do come - they are far worse than the DOC W/D's.  Please just hang in there -- soon you will start to feel your old self again -- it won't happen all at once but I promise that one day you will suddenly notice - "Hey, I really feel good"  --- Please stay and post your experience on this site -- others can really benefit from your experience.  All the best.

Um, why wouldn't someone believe you are experiencing w.ds? Of course you are?? I mean, you never gave your body time to heal from the opiates. When you switch from one opiate to another, you never stop giving your brain its fill of opiates and therefore never go through full w.d. If you lesson your dose of whichever opiate, you will have w.d symptoms. SO, you may not be giving your body enough opiates to stay out of w.d and that is why you are having mild w.d symptoms daily.

If you need help or advice, we are here...please feel free to ask anything..

And to answer your question, I was on subs for 6 months and did the exact same thing as you. I was taking tiny pieces of the subs. The wd's are from the subs. Subs have an opiate in it as percocet and oxycodone/contin do to. Subs just dont give you a buzz. Doc told me one half of an 8mg sub is equal to 20 or 30 mg's of oxycodone. Im not a doc but I definately think its wd's from the subs.

you will feel normal again. You HAVE to stick with it. I totally stopped suboxone 8 days ago and I went into immediate withdrawl. today I feel great. I know everybody is different but yoy will feel normal again. The first few days it was like the bad flu, diarahea, no motivation, groggy, etc. Thats all gone now. PLEASE stick this out as you get more positve as you feel a little better every day. I took a few pills to help me sleep, but nothing horrible. Benedryl helped me sleep believe it or not

Since you've been on Sub for quite a while, and Sub has such a long half life, it is strange that you would experience any withdrawals on a daily basis.  The amount your taking shouldn't make a difference if you have been on such a small amount for a long time.   I understand about feeling like you have lost something, and yes, I believe it's the Sub. Long term use of Sub, like other opiates will have side effects, like a lack of emotional feelings, besides physical side effects. If and when you decide to come off the Sub, these things should return to normal.  Since you're on such a small dose, maybe it's time for you to start to come off the Sub?  You may want to get some clonidine and maybe a anti-depressant if you decide to stop the Sub. Good luck to you. I hope you don't choose to be on the Sub forever. I don't want to be on it forever either.

Some people take blood pressure meds for a lifetime. Some take vitimins................Some take Sub and its OKAY! Not every person in the world HAS TO STOP completely. Lets just stay away from the DOC that we use to get high on and stay with the "tools" that we need to achieve that. Your OKAY! Look what you have done and how far you have come!!!!!!!! I have a Sub under my tounge as Im typing this and Im getting ready for work. Its better than taking 2 Oxys and filling my pockets with more to get through the workday! Its OKAY to use the tools to be BETTER! Just my opinion..............
