Is this normal

Is this normal

I have been trying to quit hydro's for about 2 weeks now doing the taper method, basically having wd's the whole time, today is actually my day 4 with nothing, and physically I am ok, a little tired but ok, but I have been sooo depressed the past couple of days, just a combination of things that have resulted from the drug problem has really gotten me down, I dont know i just feel kinda lost and hopeless right now, is this just part of the wd's?

It's a part of the withdrawal and a symptom of the disease. Do you have an aftercare plan? Group therapy, counseling and AA/NA meetings would go a long way in helping you to deal with these emotions.

No I dont have an aftercare plan yet, I have thought about getting the info on the AA/NA meetings in my area, but I have been focused on getting through the rough part of the wd's first. I know I am going to have to get some kind of aftercare so I don't continue down this road over and over like I have previously. Appreciate the info!

NA/AA meetings will be a great start. Don't put it off too long however. Most relapse comes very early in the process. These meetings will allow you to meet people that have been there, done that. It's good to talk and hear people share. It's scary at first..but becomes very cool after a while.

Hopeless, helpless and all the other adjectives are definetly part of the process of w/d, detoxing from the opiates.  I hear the aftercare is good, havent personally tried it yet, but I'm sure it is a good idea.  Just keep pushing forward a little at a time.  Its a very slow process and one that will yield very little noticable improvement on a day by day basis.  However, you just have to keep your focus on getting through this,  relapse or going back can not be an option if you want to succeed.  Dont let that even enter your mind as an option, theres no going back at this point.  You have suffered too much to start again.
Keep up the good work and just remember that regardless of bad you feel each day and how hard it is to get up and get going each day, that you are doing a good thing for you.
It does get better, it just takes time and persistance.  Best of Luck.  Guv

What you are feeling is normal and that is why aftercare is so important.  Try and get outside and get some exercise in too even if it is just a short walk.  Gotta get those "feel goods" working in your brain again.  Are you taking any supplements or vitamins??  You are doing great!!!!!!!          sara

Your depression may have been the cause of your addiction. After care is very important but even more important is dealing with your depression to insure you dont relapse. Seek help for your depression and dont just blame it on WTs.
