Is this too much

Bo4
I recently obtained a list of my relatives prescriptions. Each month they get 240 Norcos, 60 Prozac, 30 Remeron, 30 sleeping pills, 30 Concerta and 20 100 mg patches of Fentynal. This seems excessive and the person is in denial. I cant believe one doctor would prescribe this much. Is this a high dosage?

QUESTION IS HOW DID YOU OBTAIN A LIST OF THERE MEDS AND WHY?

How many people are sharing this?  Its an adequate amount for a couple people in very serious pain for a month -  Its easily enough to cause problems for about anyone.  And fentanyl is one monster to face down........what sleeping pills?  I would be concerned about the remeron and prozac mix - remeron is some powerful stuff.  Dont know the relatives medical history - but there must be a colorful one back there............................and unless you are seriously add/adhd the concerta is just waking you up from the sleeping pills.....and the remeron prozac sleeping pill combo is probably killing the real stages of sleep that you need........  I would consult a Pharmacist with this hypothetical list and ask them what would indicate the need for this type of therapy?  Educate yourself first. That will help them the most right now.

Lets see thats 8 narco a day that is not overly high amount now. I cant say anything about the patches and all of the other drugs are fine was well.I am taking this person has pain issues .Are these all scripts  in use now . The list I get goes way back too scripts I haven't taken in the last year but its still listed. If they are not running out early and taking them as directed then while he or she body might be physically dependant does not mean they have a problem or that they are an addict

Not sure about some of the meds but I do know 240 norcos a month is a lot for a doctor to prescribe. My doctor said 180 was the max he was allowed to prescribe. I'm not sure if my doctor was just saying that so I wouldn't ask for more though. Plus fentynal is a strong opiate so I wouldn't think norco would have to be taken along with it. I wouldn't think the norco would even help along with fentynal since it is a weaker med. I was also prescribed ambien for sleep due to my back pain which did help me get some sleep along with the norco. I'm not sure about the other meds but it does seem like a awful lot of medications being prescribed. Remember, opiates just mask the pain and don't get to the root problem of the injury or medical condition. Is your relative getting second opinions on trying to figure out what is causing the pain issues? If not, I would try and help get them pointed in the right direction. Best of luck.

it depends, what are they taking them for and how long? The concerta is for ADD my daughter takes it and it's not good to mix it with anything. IIt' s like a speed. The amount seems to be a months worth os rx's not too much to OD but it shouldn't be an ongoing habit for more than a month or two after a surgery
