I don't have dry skin because of opiates. I've never actually heard of that being a side effect.
maybe it's because people take less care of themselves or something?
my teeth aren't great though, but again i think that's my fault for not brushing enough.
I have no hair so i can't comment on that one(although you could hypothesize about why it fell out).

I came down with frequent hives during this last year of opiate use and when I decided to quit my hair had totally changed.  It was always dry and seemed to get pretty nasty.  After 2 weeks off opiates I noticed the hair improvements first.  Then I could start seeing it in the mirror....

nasty stuff...

it is also because of dehydration. opiates or not, most people are dehydrated everyday. the opiates just make it ten times worse, which is why you need to be drinking a lot of fluids throughout the entire day. like i i said opiates or not. try drink a glass of water eight times a day and see if it changes anything. the problem may be that simple.

it causes some deficiency in the system, i been weaning off vic for a few weeks now and my nails are growing like crazy, all the yrs i was using they were breaking and actually my thumb nail split down the middle took forever to grow back.i now am so overweight from eating while using to keep the stomache from bothering me that today was told i have extreme high blood pressure which i thought was just from withdrw but now i know its a lil more involved i have screwed up my life and health with the help of my little friend vicodin and now im just trying to get it back together and i see its a real mess to clean up.

yeah all opiates cause severe dryness, itching, and general skin irritation.I cant honestly tell you what exactly chemically causes opiates to directly cause the severe itching and dryness that the skin endures but every single opiate/opioid has those side-effects the more potent the opiate the more severe the itching will get. People that generally have dry skin will have more irritation and the itchies whereas those with very moist skin have less side-effects from them. I am a greek greasy man so I never got it to bad only when I was really really high off of Heroin or Oxycontin and then when I would get the severe itchies and scratchies I would know I was very high...Its been almost two years clean and damn does it feel good, hope evereyone is doing well..christos
