Just Home From Psychiatrist

I finally caved (acquiesced, whatever), went to the psychiatrist, and spelled out everything to him.  My lack of abuse, mostly just following the prescribed amounts of oxy (2-20mgs) and vic (4-10mgs), my decision to flush them all the day after Christmas, and the Hell I have been through since then.  The panic attacks, irritability, depression, and sleeplessness, plus severe lower back pain, are all common and expected.  He was proud of me for getting off them, mentioned the lawsuit against the makers of oxycontin, but seemed concerned enough to set up another appt for me in 4 days and a therapist appt in three.  I guess in a way it gave me vindication, that it's not just my sorry wimpy *** who can't hack it,, who can't suck it up.  His very apparent concern scared me a bit but I'm glad he's taking me seriously.  And he was proud of me for getting off the stuff even though I feel like no one in my own home is.  BTW, he gave me clonopin for the panic attacks with strict instructions to take no more than two a day,  Hopefully, I won't need it for long.

Thanks for listening.

That's great news! I agree with everyone else, you are on the right track! And like Buttercup said, unless a family member has gone through something like this, they can't understand the severity of your pain and fears. my husband is being as supportive as he can, but I get better help here, with those that have gone (or are) through this.
I'm glad to meet you!

Group Hug! :-)
I am relieved to hear things went so well at the Dr.s. The Klonopin should help. You're on the right road. Keep it up.

Heya girl :)

I'm so glad the doctor was so understanding. Remember there's a lot of us in here that are so proud of you and will be here for you.

It's hard for our families to understand sometimes, but in here most everyone has gone through addiction and is in recovery, so it's like on great big group hug..lol

I have to go get admitted to the hospital for some tests tomorrow, and go on some iv treatment to get my bloodwork back to some acceptable levels, so I probably won't be in for a couple days, but I'll be thinking about you and rooting for you!

I had not lied to him, in fact, I called him on day 5 during a severe depressive episode but thought I was better when they called back.  Of course, then I called back again when the panic attacks started and I'm now very glad I did.

Good stuff,I have a doctor/friend who i met in my military service,at the time he was a general practicianer,he subsequently through more study  interned and became a psychiatrist. When i retired from the service,we became close friends and he diagnosed me as suffwering from panic disorder, not something that was easy for me to deal with,Towit,i self-medicated with pain-pills percocet tp be exact, and i graduated to as of 2months ago the oxycontins at a dosage of160mgs a day 1x80,& 2x40s. Ay first they worked and just 2-months down the road, they are worse than my 17yr use of percocet.I hope to get on the Suboxone program as the Canadian gov, just releast it to the general public. thank john

I found out its best to tell the truth. That way you will get the correct help you need.

They usually don't keep you on that med for too long, it helps, but you have to work at it too. There is no such things as a miracle pill that will cure everything.

Good Luck
