Just curious - Has anyone gone through detox twice?

Just curious - Has anyone gone through detox twice?

Has anyone here ever been through all of this on more than one occasion and one time went cold turkey and one time use Suboxone, or Methadone?  I'm curious about what your experience was.  Which did you have an easier time with?

I have been through it many times. Unfortunately. In 1969 I went on Methadone and used again. In 1988 I went on Methadone and used again. In 2007 I used Suboxone as a short detox and I am now clean. I pray that I am done.

The one thing I have heard over and over again is not to go the methodone route. Someone posted today about that your just trading one opiate for another and that was good advice. It you can't taper or go ct I would try  suboxone. I have heard mixed reviews on it but some people swear by it. I myself have been tapering and now trying my 2nd ct which I will get through.

Jacqui, it would be good to keep mentioning what you're coming off of. Most addicts have very bad memories. :) Fentanyl is much rougher to come off of. As I've told you before. I am so proud of you! What you're going through is too hard to imagine. You really are a trooper!

Methadone and Suboxone are 2 completly different drugs.. People in general don't have the knowledge of the differences of them.. I have started a thread on it called "suboxone cunfusion?!"

it is a tad lengthy, but maybe that is why people are not quite sure what it is and isn't all about, because it is just too darn long to read, so they just pass it up..

I have been through c/t w/d close to 75-100 times SERIOUSLY!  Lost count over the 10 years of using.  My close family members also go through c/t w/d at least 1 time each month due to abusing their DR's scripts and then running out too soon!  See why suboxone might be a better tool (along with other tools like addiction counseling) to try and combat addiction and abuse?!

Yeah, I know they're two diff things.  It's just that I see so many posts from folks asking everyone what's best.  I don't have any experience with them myself, so I wanted to learn something.  Learn something especially from individual experiences.  And damn, that's a lot of times!!!!  How are you doing?  Since your family is doing it too, I would imagine that has made it harder for you to quit?

My mom and dad are my #1 source for pain killers.  I buy them from them since my dr left the clinic i was at about 7 months ago.. My family is SO SCREWED UP!  I am trying not to use anything as an excuse for MY ADDICTION!  I take resposibility for all my actions, good and bad!

I have about 6 people that I have met on here that I talk to usually on a daily basis that has either been on suboxone, or is still on suboxone.  I read that insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results.  And that is what I have done over all these years (the same darn thing)!  So now that I have insurance, I acutally have access to the tools I have never tried before.. I have an appointment with an addiction counselor tomarrow at noon, and then I have a set in stone appointment with a Suboxone DR for the 26th!  So these are both things I have never used before..

Thank god my insurance is covering 100% of everything minues the office co-pay of $45.00 and the actuall suboxone meds at $25.00 for 30 of the 8-2mg suboxone.. So I feel this is a sign fronm god that everything is lining up togather for me to take advantage of..  I am ready to get on this medication, and do whatever it takes to be able to do all the things I have not been able to do for over many years now.. I need to get and hold a job to help with finances.  And then be able to put back pieces of my life that has fell apart sue to the abuse of painkillers and addiction.

This has taken alot of my life to screw up, and I am not looking for a simple 1 month detox get clean fix-it solution!  I am ready to put in the hard work it will take to GET AND STAY CLEAN FOR LIFE!!

THANKS TO ALL THAT BELIEVE IN ME AND HAVE BEEN FOLLOWING MY STORY SINCE BEFORE X-MAS!

That's what I figured.  Damn, don't worry about excuses, hell, you've got people in your own home/family that are a) providing you will said substance, and b) use them.  That's a pretty tough environment to quit in.  Is there anyway you can be "out" of that situation?  I know they're your family, but you're stacking the deck against you.  Not that you can't do, I mean, it's just tougher that way.  I'm thrilled for you that you've got medical help and an addiction counselor.  That counselor is gonna be the key to helping you long-term.  You've got a great attitude and a realistic expectations, that's half the battle.  I wish you well dear.

I will look up sub, and I know about methadone as I am a nurse...I have seen people say they had a little trouble getting off the sub too....Perhaps sub is more expensive too....I am not planning that route right now but do like to know about what is out there....IBKleen..do you think the sub was easier to get off of than the methadone?

I can tell you based off his own previous posts that Methadone was horrible and pure narcotic opiate and did not work..

Then the Suboxone has a naloxone in it to keep from abuse of any other painkiller along with taking to much of suboxone as well.  You cannot get high or a buzz off suboxone..

IBKLeen used suboxone for a short term detox method and has been clean so far ever since then! GREAT JOB IBKEEN BY THE WAY!

I have been through this a few times. I did it once C/T, twice with Suboxone, once with Bup/Naltrexone and once with Methadone. The easiest was the CT, I swear...it was over quicker. But the depression was horrible....
