Hi..............I just joined to get support for kicking opiates.  I have been trying for a long time to stop taking T#1's which are available OTC here in Canada.  I was taking about 30/day so my dr. is weaning me off by substituting T#3's.  The idea is to lessen the acetaminophen and caffeine by doing this.  So he is doling the pills out to me daily and I am taking 5 T#3 right now.  I am having W/D symptoms like irritability, sweating, diarrhea but not really less codeine until he takes me down a level.  Last week I tried to stop CT and I couldn't do it.  I want to get to 4 tabs when he gives me my Monday dose.  I have weaned off in the past but made the HUGE mistake of keeping some "just in case" then started the cycle again.  I hate that I am able to get them OTC..........those of you in the states cannot.  My will power is not that great and I rationalize really well!  I also quit smoking 8 weeks ago and that's great 90% of the time but I don't buy them.  I really want a cigarette when the W/D are bad!  Thanks for listening.

hi and welcome
Good that you have a dr. tapering you down. Now you know that the idea of "just in case", doesn;t work. It's amazing how so many of us have to learn everything the hard way, but what matters is that you won't keep any around this time. Keep on posting, I'm sure others will pop in a little later. If the diarrhea gets real bad, Immodium is okay to take..just a thought. You just have to believe that it will get better with some time. I read this here: "You have to be ok without being ok for awhile." it's the truth. When you put some days together, moments of clarity shine through..hope returns..w/d's recede..and then the real work begins..learning new ways of dealing with life on lifes terms. Aftercare...
I'm glad you found this forum. Keep posting..

welcome I had been on Vicoden 3x a day for 4 &1/2 years, tomorrow will be 5 months clean. I have had two surgerys during this time and been given vics each time the first time I used about 5 pills this time I use 2 and the big thing is I do not keep them around.  I must admit I know where to get them but I don't. It must be so much harder for you if you can just walk in and get them at any pharmacy. I think you are doing great, just stay on your plan with your Dr and then get someone you can call when you are tempted to do more. Make up your mind that this is the last time you are going to put youself through this, mind over matter !!!  good luck and prayers to you

Thank you for your support.............I am trying to get down to 4 t1's on my own,  Had a decent sleep and only took 4 yesterday; we will see how today unfolds.  I am getting a lot of sweating; comes in waves and I want to eat all the carbs in sight.  Having trouble keeping my focus and concentrating on anything is a washout.  One day at a time!

Your body is releasing toxins..so that's good. Hot bath, hot showers also very helpful. Exactly..one day at a time. You WILL get better!
