If you have legitimate chronic pain, the answer isn't to stop, but learn to not abuse them. If you have pain that truly needs attention (and this is where rigorous honesty comes in), then you will always fall back into relapse. There are ways to manage pain without abusing the medications. You just need to become an advocate for your health. Find the right addictionologist and pain management doctors to help you manage the pain. You can rely on non-opiates if that's what's warranted. Some people HAVE to rely on opiates for any quality of life. But, they CAN'T abuse them. Big difference there. These doctors can help, but it's up to you to be an advocate for the care you deserve. The ball is certainly in your court.
Good luck to you, YoungDude - - And what exactly are your body symptoms that demand that you have minor doses of narcotics to deal with them? What other methods of pain control and management have you tried seriously to manage those complaints. A first observation would be that its very seldom medically indicated for narcotics to be prescribed for body "abuse" pain for 15 years. Why did you take the four Norco's today? Was the pain unbearable and lasting for the entire day? You should be prescribed the Norco's to take every 6 hours AS NEEDED for pain......... that doesnt meant to take them every 6 hours all day and all night! You will find your answers here if you are totally honest with yourself - - - - - Its just that we usually dont want to admit it...........
