Klonopin Titration formula
I have been struggling with this juggling. Doc put me on K and X for panic attacks about one year ago. 3mg of K and 2mg. X....I was recently in a car accident and was given a miriad of different colored pills for this and that accompanied with a morphine drip. I sustained serious injuries.
Now to my question/experience: I managed to stop the X approx. one month ago, and had the usual electric shocks, insomnia that has been discussed here. Pain medications have been changed several times to now Itake 400mg. of Demerol and fluctuate the K...sometimesonly 1 mg. sometimes 4, but I want off of them!!!! I have no transportation at this point and have approx 50 1mg pills left. Can/will ANYONE give me an understandable titration formula so when I do run out of pills, I will not seize...this what I am most trrifed of. I have never ad one but that does not mean I won't. I've worked through my panic and PTSD and want off ofthis medicine. Someone?

WELL...Doc called with a formula! tell me what you think...1 in AM....1 in aft. for 10 days...then 1 in AM and 1/2 in aft. for ten days...then call him...he may actually be right and also may be receptive for actually helping me get off this stuff.
I have already started with just one per morn, this is the second day of that...shaky but ok, should I go up to two a day? and continue with his plan?

Fantastic news! I have the shortcut link to the formula but need to print a copy to show a doc....my laptop has not been aet up with my printer yet but now it is needed. I have been of fof the computer since the acident (April) but now that I have become more mobile I plan to be in here often as I am serious about getting off of all drugs.
I got off the Alcohol, Xanax, morphine and Oxy and hydros...but they were all replaced by another...two remaining. Klonopin and Demerol.....Even on the doses I take now, I shake most of the day, have memory probs and insomnia....probably withdrawl from one of the others Whew! This ain't for sissies! LOL

I have her tapers in my journals Cindy if you can get the doctor to prescribe you the Valium I have copies of them
Just read esteemed Ashton titration formula by slowly switching to Valium then discontinuing that..sounds like that is for me....now, how to get to a doc and which one will listen? hmmm....

His office closed at noon...no call...my problem now....maybe a titrate of 1/2 morn and 1/2 night...but tat will still be 1 mg per day....called pharmacist and he really has no clue either...says some people have trouble, others not but DID state 1/2 dosage reduction weekly...ladyboop, you have been confirmed !! : ) Now hoping 50 will hold out until this is done. He also stated that if I do start feeling "wierd" not WD symptoms..then to take a full mg. He knows about the seizures but truly downplayed them...

I thank everyone for each and every post. I am truly terrified and feel a little helpless because of circumstanses keeping me homebound. To whatever Higher Power you have, I humbly ask that prayers for me couldn't hurt.
Thank you all again. Will be off Computer as of Monday until following Saturday.

What ladyboop did sounds good....i was on klonopin for a long time, went c/t, and it was the biggest mistake of my life.....Thank goodness you are tapering..not sure if 50 1mgs is enough but maybe u and lady can make a taper plan and figure it out.....I hope your doctor helps you on this, because it is a serious drug

I can't say I abuse them...in fact I refused to use the dosage prescribed (3 1mg per day/morn/aft/night) but would sort of take (always) one in the morn and maybe one at night if I had trouble sleeping....there have been days where I did take three per day but it was not usual....Yes, 1 mg. K...I have 50 pills left, have taken my morning dose and since the doc has not responded I will stick to that for one week and then try 1/2 beginning next week...I hope I don't do the wrong thing....do you think 50 pills is enough to titrate safely? I just want your opinion and will hold you to nothing...

I have had the same troubles in the past. Was put on the same meds, As far as the klonopin and xanax. Can I ask you, Do you abuse them? I ask because I think that makes a difference trying to get off them. I never did. My dr had me cut back my dose alittle at a time. Did you say you are taking the 1mgs? How many times a day? I remember, we cut My mid day pill in half for a week (5 days) Then stopped it. Then cut my morning pill in half for a week, Then my night pill in half, and so on.. I had no trouble coming off of it..

Sorry...it is Klonopin or/same as .clonazapam...a benzodiazapine. And no questions are dumb!...

I have no experience with tapering from a benzo so I can't help her....her doctor is not returning her phone calls (we are pm'ng) Could somebody who has experience with this please help her? thanks...joann
Thank you for your response and I do have a call into my doc but he loves his patitnets on drugs I have found and do not expect cooperation. I moved to a very rural area with only one pschiatrist and it is basically go in, get med script and out in 15 minutes. I have asked for him to help me stop the K and he always says, if it's working for you why change it. I live in a very 20 years ago Appalachian area. My house is on the market to get out of here, ever see the movie "deliverance"? Well, thats my world here. He also will not refill until I see him. No car, not able to walk. He will be angry I am stopping meds. CRAZY.
