Klonopin and booze

Has anyone been addicted to Klonopin and drinking?  I was almost 5 years sober when I was prescribed klonopin for dystonia (a neuromuscular condition) which appeared over night.  Is there anyone here who is or has been addicted to this?

Thank you so much.  I think every day I need to quit the drinking.  I know it does make me depressed.  Hopefully I can stop.  I like this forum, a lot of activity on here and good stuff.  I'm trying to taper the meds too.

I take klonopin as prescribed though, have now for almost 6 yrs. was put on many othersa before I got to these, ans these work for me the best.

I am sure I am depoendant on them, but these I am not addicted to. Anyway...I don't know much about the addiction as far as these pills go even though I do take them. But I do know I would never drink with them. I mean I have drank..I use to drink..but I never actually took the pill with my alcohol. But they were still in my system.

I would be very careful as to how much you do drink though. Because it could be deadly.

Check through the archives, previous posts. I am sure there is much info that you will find regarding the klonopin. And I am sure someone with more knowledge of this med will post a response to you as well.

Good luck and be careful.

I am not trying to preach to you. I just know from personal experience the cycle of the anxiety/panic/depression/drinking.

I would drink to calm my anxiety, but it just made it worse the next day. I also suffer from panic attacks and agoraphbia, which that is caused from the panic attacks. Then I have major depression from all the above s**t. So I drank..to just be all a wreck again the next day..then get depressed..and drink again..and so on and so on. But, when I quit drinking I felt so much better. Also drinking alcohol defeats the purpose of taking the drug to begin with.

Just something to think about. Hope you feel better soon!

Yeah I've been reading some of the archives and someone said if you drink with these you are playing with fire.  Then I was really concerned.  For some reason they make me want to drink though.  This is not new I've been doing this for a few years now.  Usually I'll have about 5 beers every night after taking these during the day.  They do make me crave alcohol very much.  Maybe because I'm an addictive person.  I guess like everyone on here.  Thanks for responding.

The alcohol will make you depressed. And if you are on the klonopin for anxiety...you will increase your anxiety by drinking the alcohol which in turn makes you depressed. They go hand in hand. If you can, I would stay away from the alcohol. You will not only feel alot better you will know your safe too!

I think so too.  Did your mom start drinking again?  I've been feeling really sickly lately.  I think it's catching up with me. I also think it's making me really depressed again.  It has before and I've tried to quit taking these but it never lasted too long.
