Hey Carrie:  where did you go?

It upsets me when people come on here and are frantic, we jump to help them and then they disappear.

I hope you are okay, honey.  You took the time to register and pick a username...please come back and talk to us.

Def stop the kratom now!!  You should only experience mild WD at this point. I took it for 16 months and had to quit because it began to give severe anxiety, paranoia, and sudden drops in blood sugar, or something were I became shaky and almost zombie like. Its nasty nasty stuff. The wds were horrible, depression was awful during the detox. Again I was on it 16 months and high doses. Please, please stop while you can.

You need to discuss all of this with your OB ASAP.  This is alot of chemicals for this developing baby to injest.  How often do you drink?

Hi again :)

I just read a comment you left on a thread about Adderall where you mentioned not being able to control your use & running out of your 'script early.

With the exception of alcohol, coke & speed (Adderall) probably pose the greatest risk to your baby. I'd be more worried about using amphetamines & drinking than about Kratom to tell you the Truth. Have you been seeing an OBGYN? Do you have access to any sort of counseling? Is there anyone around to support you?

Here's a link re: amphetamine use & pregnancy:

Please, keep posting. This is your place!

Hi there & Welcome :)

As NeverAgain mentioned, you have no way of knowing what you're ingesting when you do Kratom as it's grown in Asia. (It's also illegal in most of the countries where it's grown -- that tells you something right there!)

So, a few questions if I may; how much are you doing a day? (how many times do you use it?). How much did you start off with? Are you taking a 'concentrate' or powder? Also..are you still drinking? I ask this because as you probably know, alcohol is very dangerous for the fetus & combined with Kratom could be disastrous. It's suspected that Kratom is hard on the liver when consumed regularly.

I agree that it might be difficult to find an OBGYN or GP who is familiar with Kratom. While it's not classed as an opiate it binds to the same mu receptor sites  as morphine. Tolerance tends to build quickly with this drug (I took it briefly myself to mitigate a rough detox off Methadone). The thing with opiates is that they all cross the placental barrier to one degree or another. I'd wager that Kratom does too.

I would talk to your dr. She/he might want you to continue taking Kratom until after the birth because of the unknown risk of miscarriage during withdrawal or maybe they'll put you on an opiate to maintain you. Perhaps they'll deem it safe to wean you off. It'll probably depend on your age, your history in terms of pregnancy, the health of the foetus, your health, etc. It's important to check this out though! I have the feeling that plenty of babies have been born to Kratom-ingesting mothers & been ok because we haven't heard a hue & cry about it. It's hard to sort out though because most of the folks who use Kratom also use other drugs & opiates. Either way, it really is a bad idea to put anything into your body that is not for the baby. A simple rule of thumb would be: Is it for the baby or is it for me? If it's just for you & you wouldn't give it to a baby then don't take it.

Best wishes to you & your baby. Let us know how you're doing :)

I have limited knowledge of Kratom.  It's my understanding that it can bind to the same opioid receptors that narcotics do.  The same things you read here for narcotic withdrawal would be what I'd do for Kratom withdrawal.

There are folks here with actual experience using Kratom.  I'm sure they'll be by soon with recommendations for you

Kratom is technically legal, but it is currently on the FDA "watchlist" as there have been so many reports from ER's about OD's.

This is a plant that is grown half-way around the world, under who-knows-WHAT conditions.  It hasn't been tested, it could contain pesticides, lead, and other dangerous contaminants.

Stop taking it---NOW.  I also advise you to go to your OB-GYN and get a thorough check up.   He/She probably wont' have any idea what kratom is.

Are you in a program?  Sounds like you need a meeting very badly.

Good luck honey.
