Long Term Effects of Nicotine Gum use

My husband chewed tobacco for about 10 years and has now been on Nicotine gum for about 5 years. I can not find any new research on the long term effects of being addicted to nicotine. Can you please point me in a direction that can tell us what kind of damage may be occuring while he continues chewing the gum? We had heard that long term use could cause fertility problems, is this true?  Thank you so much.

While nicotine IS addictive, no studies have found nicotine DANGEROUS to a person's health (except in massive doses)--
The harmful ingredients are contained in the cigarette, chew, cigar, etc... they include: tar, carbon monoxide and other cancer causing chemicals.. Hope that helps!

also, I have been on ULTRAM for chronice Neouropathic pain, and have now switched to elavil and Neourontin.. They are working great! I don't feel like a zombie anymore, and rarely take the Ultram* anymore.

Feeling GREAT in the Midwest-- Jess

*the withdrawl (withdrawal) from ULTRAM was the worst withdrawl (withdrawal) I've EVER experienced... Use it with CAUTION if it is prescribed to you!

actually, there are now, many known issues with chewing the gum for years. I have been on it for 3 now and so I checked out the possible side effects - medical studies have shown that it can lead to diabetes (a horrid condition to controol...) and definitely mouth cancers and possible heart problems. just type it into any search engine, look for proper medical advice sites and you will see for yourself!. it off to by ordinary gum for me now, and to try to get off this nicotene stuff which is clearly no good for me..
