Long term effects.....?

I was hoping someone could maybe answer this question for me:
It's been almost 9 glorious months since I decided to take my life back with the help of my family at home and MH family.  I've been trying to eat better (b/c of course I've put on a few lbs!!!) maybe 5/7 lbs, and have been excersizing 5 x's a week.  Does anyone have issues with their legs feeling like dead weight?  I feel like I'm dragging my *** around everywhere I go.  Everytime I get up, it's like I have to actually "force" myself to get up?  Is this in my head, or is it possible there are long term effects to pain meds and suboxone use?  Could it just be me?  Has anyone else felt this?

Yes, just like Weaver said, it was about 18 months for me to past the lingering sense of lethargy. Now at 2+ years I find I am surprised sometimes by the amount of energy I have. For the longest time I needed to rest pretty frequently throughout the day, and I had gotten used to needing that. Now if I sit down on the couch to rest I find I don't need it and end of getting up and doing something more active. So hang in there, it will steadily get better!

With subs and methadone both, it can take a long time for that effect to go away. I was on high dose methadone and it took about a year to 18 months for the lead legs to finally pass. The synthetic opioids tend to hide in our bodies and have a high affinity for our brains, they just don't want to let go. You are doing the right thing, keep exercising and eating good, take care of your emotional and mental health, it will pass. It is very rare for pharmaceutical opiate or opioid to do permanent damage. Even street heroin doesn't often do permanent damage, accept in really high dose, long term use, and often being cut with some other chemical. Try not to get psyched out by it, just keep doing the right things and your body will heal. I even had phantom pains for up to 18 months, but they are gone now and only legit pain remains. You are doing awesome, keep it up.

This isn't quite the same thing but my feet and legs keep falling asleep if I'm sitting the same position for any real length of time.  Very strange.  The doctor told me it would get better...just part of the body fixing itself.
