Looking for a detox 'buddy'

by toenail, Aug 09, 2002 12:00AM
I guessed a title like 'need help' would get lost amongst all the other pleas.

I started punching walls, cutting myself and trying to OD when I was going through puberty (12), and then I found alchohol, 'a clean solution to all my problems' for a few years.  A new universe to explore where things couldn't upset me but now drinking has created its own hell.

I am a little wiser now.

Hi, my name is John and I am now 33.  I am now pretty much de-toxed and back in reality except for the odd bad day and there lays the problem.  I run back to my nurse maid 'alchohol'.

I guess I am looking for 121 support with a friend who wants to stop drinking and is serious, wants a shoulder to cry on, set targets or laugh over each others problems instead of bottleing them up.

My hope is that it won't all be work but the opportunity to have a laugh at lifes expense !

Have you tried an AA meeting?

by toenail, Aug 09, 2002 12:00AM
Hi hellbent,

Yes I did try AA but I am sorry to say it did not help at that time for me.  I seem to have a dismissive attitude with group therapy.

You got to get back to AA.Remember it only takes two people have a meeting.Go to meetings until you find someone you can trust and talk to one on one with.Alcohol is a real *****,It's everwhere, on tv ,at social gatherings,in every store.Thank God I don't see OxyContin everytime I turn around,or I'd be screwed!!
But seriously get back to AA it's your best chance at a successful recovery.

God Bless,Jes20
