Loritab Addiction

I have been taking loritabs for about five years but have just realized lately how bad my addiction has become.  I have been taking anywhere from 10 to 15 a day.  I am planning to quit by the end of next week.  I am looking for every tip I can to make it through this the best way possible.  I know I will have trouble with energy since I work in a pretty labor intensive job.  Also, I know that I will not be able to sleep or eat.  Any advice that anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated.  I need this for my family as well as myself.  thank you

THOMAS RECIPE

If you can't take time off to detox, I recommend you follow a taper regimen using your drug of choice or suitable alternate -- the slower the taper, the better.

For the Recipe, You'll need:

1. Valium (or another benzodiazepine such as Klonopin, Librium, Ativan or Xanax). Of these, Valium and Klonopin are best suited for tapering since they come in tablet form. Librium is also an excellent detox benzo, but comes in capsules, making it hard to taper the dose. Ativan or Xanax should only be used if you can't get one of the others.

2. Imodium (over the counter, any drug or grocery store).

3. L-Tyrosine (500 mg caps) from the health food store.

4. Strong wide-spectrum mineral supplement with at least 100% RDA of Zinc, Phosphorus, Copper, Magnesium and Potassium (you may not find the potassium in the same supplement).

5. Vitamin B6 caps.

6. Access to hot baths or a Jacuzzi (or hot showers if that's all that's available).

How to use the recipe:

Start the vitamin/mineral supplement right away (or the first day you can keep it down), preferably with food. Potassium early in the detox is important to help relieve RLS (Restless Leg Syndrome). Bananas are a good source of potassium if you can't find a supplement for it.

Begin your detox with regular doses of Valium (or alternate benzo). Start with a dose high enough to produce sleep. Before you use any benzo, make sure you're aware of how often it can be safely taken. Different benzos have different dosing schedules. Taper your Valium dosage down after each day. The goal is to get through day 4, after which the worst WD symptoms will subside. You shouldn't need the Valium after day 4 or 5.

During detox, hit the hot bath or Jacuzzi as often as you need to for muscle aches. Don't underestimate the effectiveness of hot soaks. Spend the entire time, if necessary, in a hot bath. This simple method will alleviate what is for many the worst opiate WD symptom.

Use the Imodium aggressively to stop the runs. Take as much as you need, as often as you need it. Don't take it, however, if you don't need it.

At the end of the fourth day, you should be waking up from the Valium and experiencing the beginnings of the opiate WD malaise. Upon rising (empty stomach), take the L-Tyrosine. Try 2000 mgs, and scale up or down, depending on how you feel. You can take up to 4,000 mgs. Take the L-Tyrosine with B6 to help absorption. Wait about one hour before eating breakfast. The L-Tyrosine will give you a surge of physical and mental energy that will help counteract the malaise. You may continue to take it each morning for as long as it helps. If you find it gives you the "coffee jitters," consider lowering the dosage or discontinuing it altogether. Occasionally, L-Tyrosine can cause the runs. Unlike the runs from opiate WD, however, this effect of L-Tyrosine is mild and normally does not return after the first hour. Lowering the dosage may help.

Continue to take the vitamin/mineral supplement with breakfast.

As soon as you can force yourself to, get some mild exercise such as walking, cycling, swimming, etc. This will be hard at first, but will make you feel considerably better.

****** this is the thomas recipe that i got off here from someone..
i am also detoxing from loritabs. im on day 7 and for the first time all week i feel more like myself..less energy but i can see that in just days ill be better than ever. ok this is just what I HAVE DONE..it dont mean it will work for everyone but least its more info on how i have dealt with it ok.
i suggest definenlty to stock up on imdium LOL its really a needed thing..
the hot baths work wonders..if you can ,,,sit in the bath as long as possible it really does relieve(temp) alot of the aches. for a cpl days you will not want to eat prolly but i did use crackers for them days even if  had to force them down.
the banannas are a good thing for your legs along with the hot baths. i also took melatonin to relax me some for rest. not that it works all the time but it helps. i took regular tylenol 2 every 8 hrs for 3 days to help slack of the aches. im also a mother n wife and just didnt have time to be too sick but nothing will actually stop the Wd's that i have suggested ok. so its not a miracle way out of them it will just basically make you more comfy with some of them. i also made a day chart of things i needed to do like dishes on day..laundry the next and pushed myself to do it..but its up to you and what you think will work for you ok. My best advice is STICK WITH THIS FORUM !!!!  lots of great people here that will be here for you and help anyway they can and we are all fighting the same battle and you can see how ppl are doing ..how they are so many days along and doing better and its a sign of hope you need to have. like you i also was scared of handling it but hey..im here on day 7 and i have to say..these 7 days have been so worth it thinking back to how i was before. while i was taking them. i wish you the best of luck and hope to see more posts on how you are doing.. (((hugs)))

Try melatonin to help you sleep - just try not to take too much or you will wake up feeling hungover.

Welcome!

Have you heard of the Thomas Recipe?  It has been posted on here.  It will help with a lot of the withdrawal symptoms.  I am curious too - do you have any vacation time or sick time you can take away from work?  It is difficult to work while detoxing.  Especially the first few days when the physical symptoms are at there worst.  If you have no choice but to work then please look up the recipe.  It will at least give you some relief.  Hot baths are very good at helping with the achy feelings you will have too.  You will also will have RLS (restless leg syndrome) - eat banana's - I think that is part of the Recipe anyway but they really help me.  The potassium in them is a real life saver.

All my best,

Shelby
