Loritab Withdrawals

I am really needing some great advice. My husband has been taking loritabs for probably two years or longer now. He is really wanting to get off them now and has not had one in two days. He had a lower back injury at work about a year ago but this was after he had already been taking the Loritabs. It used to be 1/2 a pill at a time maybe twice a day then it just kept increasing. When he started to swallow them whole without anything to drink I started getting worried. When he started going thru withdraws I read lots what others had to say and went out and got him numerous remedies like the L-Tyrosine with Vit B6 and C and also 5-HTP. He has also been taking Tylenol and Ibuprofen for the constant back pain. He already takes Lexapro for his anger and depression. I don't know what else to do b/c he's been in bed, on couch, and taking hot baths for two days now. He even said today that he couldn't take it anymore and just felt like shooting himself. I know he wouldn't do that but I'm helpless now and don't know what I should do. Is there anything out there maybe that gives off the same feeling as a loritab? He has no energy and complains about his back. It's atagonizing just to watch him suffer. Please help me!

his pain is magnifyed by the withdrawl.. his pain is real its just probably not as bad as it seems. a heating pad may help a little.. really he should just tough it out. there isn't anything that is gonna replace loritab.some say 800mg of motrin has given them some relief for those with medical issues that require pain medicine, and giving him any opiates will just prolong the withdrawl. if it has been 2 days he is almost half way there some people start feeling alot better in 5 days. i would get him something to help him sleep.. maybe valerian root or melatonin.

The back aching pain is part of the withdrawals.  That along with a lot of other aches, diarrhea, sneezing. watery eyes, etc.
If he is two days into it, he is almost out of the woods so to speak.  Two or three more days at the most.  There is nothing that is non narcotic that is going to give him the Vicodin feeling.
May I suggest to continue that hot baths or showers and take 800 mg Ibuprofen.  The Ibuprofen will help ease the achiness.  It won't completely make it disappear. It WILL take the edge off.  There is no miracle cure for withdrawals.  Believe me, I have been through it too many times.  Hang in there, I know it is tough to see him suffer.  Just a couple more days and he will feel much better.  I hope this helps.

I am not an expert on this topic by any means, but being 3 days into it, I can attest to the fact that the ibuprofin, hot showers, and heating pad REALLY work for the back aches.
I'm giving the alternate sleeping remedies a shot tonight as well (thanks to the advice of my new friends!) I'll let you know how that works out.

Hi there. Sorry to hear about the discomfort your husband is in. I have mentioned it a few times on here and I will say it again, there is an over the counter medicine its called Legatrin PM. It really does help with sleep and aches and pains. I take it alot of the time so that I dont have to take so much narcotic pain meds. I take 2 or 3 at a time and after about 20 mins or so my body starts to feel numb and calm. If I were to rate it on a scale of 1-10 with 1 being poor quality and ten being wonderful, I would give it atleast a 9. You can find it at either your local drug store, or some walmarts carry it. It varies in cost from 8-14 dollars a bottle of 50 depending where you get it. (cheapest at walmart in my area)

I really hope you or your husband gives it a try. It really does work wonders, and it is not a narcotic.

HOpe this helps some, take care
