MD said "no withdrawals" lol

Just wanted to share something. As you might know from my posts, I have been taking hydrocodone steady for a few years now, steady RX's from my primary doc for back pain. Long story short...I moved to another state, my primary is not treating "pain management" patints anymore, so I need to find a doctor in the state I am in now.
Heres the thing....I completely get that the docs dont want to write for narcs, its not the correct way to treat, the DEA is up their ***, yadda yadda yadda. I get it, and I will be very surprised if I even find another doc to prescribe me vicodin. What bugs me is this: I asked, him, what does he recommend I try for my pain? He said  1 or 2 200mg advil should be ok. I asked, so I should just completely stop taking the vicodins, just like that? Will I feel any withdrawal symptoms? ( I knew I would, but I had to ask for his input)  He said, no, not at all, you wont feel anything.
now, either he doesnt know that I would get symptoms, or he just doesnt CARE.....either way, this irritates me. He was kind of paranoid, even going into detail about how he "knew some doctor the next town over who got his door kicked in by the dea".....ummm ok, I didnt really think that was appropriate to be telling a patient, but whatever. i completely get that I am just another person trying to get some vicodin for my pain, but telling me right to my face, that no, I wont get any symptoms, dont worry???  WTF.....do some docs really dont know??

I'm on narcotics for pain and don't abuse them.  But I have been misled by some doctors regarding withdrawals and dependence, etc.  Frankly, I'm annoyed I was misled.  I may have made different choices if I had known the full story.

But, personally, I think people with chronic pain are better served by seeing a doctor at a pain clinic rather than their primary or a different specialist, like an ortho.  I think they know better how to treat chronic pain and they have many other options other than pills.

Sorry, just wanted to share that this doctor actually assured me that I would have no withdrawal symptoms AT ALL if i just stopped taking vicodin after being on it for a few years.
But yeah, I am trying to get a new doc to prescribe, I was just commenting on how this doc either lied to my face, and didnt care about how i  would feel after stoping CT, or he didnt know, either of which baffles me.
sorry, just annoyed, at myself and the world, I guess...
