MESSAGE FROM MED HELP

The nasty remarks will stop NOW!

In addition, please stop using up a "question" for comments.  The doctor only sees and replies to questions.  Because the doctor's time is limited, we have to limit the number of new questions we allow each day.  When you guys use up a question "slot" for your opinions & comments, you've taken away the chance for a person with a question to get help.

DITTO. THIS HAS GONE FAR ENOUGH!

by Kurt Cobain, Jun 03, 2003 12:00AM
To: Cindy
Well, thanks for your response.  I used up a "question" to get some comments only after it became apparent that no one from MedHelp was going to step in to do something otherwise (AND, if you read far enough, with the EXPLICIT disclaimer that anyone with a REAL NEED could GLADLY step in and take precedence).

And as far as the doctor's time being limited. . .well, as far as that's concerned, mine is too, at least as far as how much time it takes to wade through the childish insults to get to some real answers.  Even if they ARE doctor's, their time is no more valuable than mine or any other addict's here.

Lastly, if the questions are indeed limited (and I know they are), maybe a little more scrutiny could go towards screening out duplicate question posts such as the two identical "ESH" threads that went up yesterday.  I'm sure it was through no fault of the poster, but letting that slip by took just as much space away -- 50%, by my calculations -- as did my question today.  Thanks for your concern.

Peace,

Kurt

Thanks you for stepping in. I am brand new to this forum and in dire need of it. I am trying to stop using even for 1 day and I literally looked at the thread and had a massive anxiety attack when all I saw was mindless bickering and no help[ful words at all. You dont realize that this is life or death and to see people fighting andf not focussed on recovery is deadly.

I need help. I feel like I cant stop. I have been using 8 mos this time. I have stopped 8 mos and 6 mos in the past 4 years but it has gotten harder. What do I do?

I had to read this forum for several months before I would post a ques. or comment be it b/c I thought it might be stupid in someone elses mind then the times I wanted to be supportive and affraid the info I gave back was going to be ripped apart B/c I wasn't educated enough. Everyone here has been helpful in the past but until that guy leaves I will not post anymore, I don't need anyone analizeing or whatever his insecurities are to lay into me. I think everyone here should not respond to his comments anymore. Just a thought TER

I strongly second that.  Anyone can say who was involved and this and that.  But, the bottom line is someone came here with the sole purpose of stirring it up and did an outstanding job of doing that.  After what he has posted, I can't see how anyone can give him the time of day.

It's easy to change identities on this forum, but spammers and cranks can't change their agendas, most of which involve the disruption of the forum dialogue.

cosmicstargoat has proven to be a waste of our time and, more to the point, a waste of forum thread space.

Thus far, we've given him what he wants: a chance to disrupt the forum, dominate the threads, and serve his own vanity by posting what he undoubtedly considers to be witty retorts. In reality, the content of his posts is tactless, mundane and puerile.

I will no longer read or respond to his posts. I suggest everyone do the same.

I am puzzled as to why you would come in now with this low blow, hours after everyone had already worked everything out.  I have made my peace with everyone, except perhaps Mr. Michaels and now it is all for naught.

Kurt, Thomas was the one who told me to stand up for myself.  Live and learn.

Just to add another line of support to all of you people out there that take the time to reply to the questions.  I know how dire this board became to me in the time that I was admitting that I had a problem, wanting to quit, getting the inpatient help that I needed and, lastly, staying "almost" clean for two months with just a two day spread of "using" pain meds because of a nerve in my face flaring up.  I come here every day to remember why I became clean, the living hell that I went through to get clean and motivation to live one more day clean.  This is by far the hardest thing I have ever done in my life and continues to be a fighting struggle.  Without this board and just lurking every day~  I wouldn't be where I am.  Thanks to all of you out there that share your time and experience with all of us.
I know that I have never posted my story before, maybe some time I can find a place where it will "fit in" and help someone else.  But if any of you are interested, I will be happy to tell it.  My email is ***@****.  FYI, COD is lortab 10's/ 20-25 a day for 7 months~
Have a Great Day All~

I'm so sorry that Thomas wasn't hanging around his computer and refreshing it every couple of minutes, to see if you had posted today.  He was a little tied up looking in my drawers. I guess he found he found them a lot more interesting than he does you.

Also, he said stand up for yourself, he did NOT say change your nickname, come back into the forum, and start flaming all it's posters on every thread you could find open to post on. BIG, BIG difference between the two.

---------

Cindy, I don't post a lot in here, but I do read every thread daily and help out those I feel I can.  PLEASE ban this goat guy before he does any more damange and ties up more threads as soon as they are started in the mornings.  Thank you so much. I'm doing more scrolling in here than reading the past couple of days because of his disruptive behavior.  He's better off going to usenet groups where he can find others such as himself who get off on flame wars.

You are always singled out brother. Some people just like to push your buttons, as for me I lost it and I did keep this **** going. Goatman knew it and kept it coming until Cindy said she had enough of it! I know better than most my shortfalls and letting people get to me is one of my major flaws but I have to be honest Goatman deserved everything I said, I just should have said it in one post. I took up space too. I hope anyone here reailizes I was just taking up for this forum, the one that saved my life 10 months ago along with the life long friends I have made here.

I understand where you are coming from.  I also hold this place and what it stands for in high regard.  I will defend it to the end.  And, that is all I was doing.  I find no foul in that.  Some people are quiet and stand by the side and others aren't quiet and put up a resistance.  Simple human nature.

Sorry to break in, but Hippee mentioned smart recovery Vs. AA in one of his posts, and I didn't know that smart recovery was anything more than merely the two words. Is it an organization? Or an idealogy? If so what is the difference with it and AA/NA?
Just curious, thanks.

I wouldn't doubt if Kurt Cobain was Groovy, and Cosmicgoat dude was one of her friends.
She always seems to come up with unusual suedo's, writes books when she posts, and never really uses capital "i's" along with other telltale signs I have noticed.
Plus she has been gone for a few weeks.
Just a hunch.
Whether I a mright or wrong doesn't matter. I presume they have already been banned before already , so I sure hey aren't worried about it. As they haven't even sid anything in regards to getting banned.

And yes I would defend our right to be here and I think Cindy has put up with alot from me here and I know why I am still allowed to comeback after all the warnings because I really deeply care about these people who have no one to turn to because of the bias in the medical profession. I lost sight of that last night and lost my head. How many times have I done this same thing with GroovyButterFlyGirl and Her sidekick GHB(I know it's GWH) I was making a joke Diane! LOL

Thomas05, i posted this earlier but it got nuked my the staff, to rid of some of the unpleasantness:

SMART Recovery®:

Teaches self-reliance rather than reliance on a higher power
Views addiction as a complex maladaptive behavior rather than as a disease
Encourages you to recover and move on with your life
Does not use the labels "alcoholic" or "addict"
Does not have "sponsors"
Holds meetings which are actual discussions rather than a series of monologues
Advocates the appropriate use of prescribed medications and psychological treatments

Evolves as scientific knowledge evolves

Hi, I haven't been on in a couple of days and just read this thread and went back and read the comments under Suboxone. I couldn't really follow all the back and forth insults, but it seemed to me that at the beginning there was some undercurrent of people implying that they weren't addicts and were on pain meds because of pain only, and some people reacting like those people think that they are better than those who call themselves "addicts"  And I think I saw that in another thread. Am I wrong? Is that one of the things that comes up in this forum? I felt shocked when I thought that I detected that, as if some people on this forum think there is something "wrong" and "bad" and "less than" about being an addict, or as some say, "having the disease of addiction." (I know there is a rational recovery faction here, which is why I hesitate to say "The disease of addiction.") I'd like to hear from people whether this is something that comes up in this forum, or if I'm just misunderstanding. It occurred to me at one point that some people might be trying to make a differentiation between people who need pain management but don't have to worry about sureptitiously taking a couple more here and there because they are not addicts. And that these people were pointing this out because it's important to know if you have to watch that in yourself, not because you can feel better or worse than others.  It matters to me, in that I'm not only an addict myself (though not struglling now with anything but chocolate), but I work with people who are addicts and I'm reading the forum for help for myself and them. I think it is very unhelpful for people to have to deal with any kind of better-than attitudes regarding being an addict or not. Everyone has their problems.
Or... is the main conflict in this forum about some people acting like they know more and therefore they are better than other people on the forum, and other people taking offense at their "know-it-all" attitude? hope you can follow my rambling..thanks for listening.

What bothers me more than the comments is the changing of handles. Expillman posted about the loss of his wife in May. Cosmicstargoat posted about losing his wife in May on his own web site. I'm sorry to use such a tragic loss as an example here, but that's all I've got.

Whatever the intent, changing handles obviates what little accountability we have on the forum. Even worse, it sews the seeds of distrust, making many of us reluctant to help people who often find this forum at the lowest point in their lives.

Speak your mind, but sign your work.

Thomas, what are you trying to prove?  I never attempted to disguise my identity.  Your bring up my deceased wife and PROLONGING THIS THREAD IS DESPICABLE and shows me that there is rampant hypocrisy running through this Forum.  I ran a ruse for one day.  It got out of hand.  I took responsibility.

Now, Thomas do you want to talk about it some more?  This web site is about the most HACKABLE that I have ever seen, it's wide open.  I would never do such a thing, but if my only motivation was to wreak havoc, it would be easy to do.

Now, answer my question if you have a modicum of integrity in your body.  Why did you RESSERECT this thread after it was settled earlier this afternoon.
