METHADONE PROCESS

alright guys, so im going in tomorrow to a mehadone clinic for assessment...now aside from the 10 dollar fee, what else should i expect...will tey start me with my dosages immediately so i can keep on functioning in my daily life or will they send me on the streets with cravings and withdrawals, or worse not give me withdrawal treatment unless i stop going to school and work and enter a rehab facility...please someone who has gone through tihs process help me... thank you..

Hi there, I myself am in a similar situation. A methadone "beginner"  Please note that everymeth clinic is differenrt. I went and had an intake/assessment done on Friday..they did an ECG, bloodwork, urinalyssis,,they searched nt body for track marsk etc etc they asked a bunch of questions about my drg if chouce and quantities i take,,and then they booked me a doctors appt for octber 5fh (soonest date availablr) I have NO IDEA what happpens next. I am really hoping that I get my 1st dose THAT day,,,the norning of the 6th!  Hopefully there are no other pre-amit stuff that needs to be done.
Cause it feels like waiting 2 wks from intake to doctors appt is far too long. i just want off these stupid pills.
and methadone clinics arent allowed to force you to go to school or work or quit school and work, that is not their job or their decision
Please let me know how your assessment went because u and i are in the same boat right now to give eachother support before methadone and while just starting it too

I don't want to push this idea on you....that is NOT my intention. I'm not preaching. I just want you to have this POV and info. Methadone is the most addictive opiate out there and THE most difficult to get off. Only you know what works for you and your life. Please, first, just know that. It is a ball and chain of the worst kind. Puts you in a general haze takes all your emotions, makes you basically just feel no emotion after a while. Again, your life, your situation.

That being said, let me suggest an alternative to methadone MAINTENANCE treatment, which goes on indefinitely, for many, for LIFE. There is a program they do for 21 days. It tapers you down with little or no physical w/ds. You stabilize on a methadone dose for 2-3 days and then taper down for the remainder of the 21 days, then you are done. The long half-life enables your body to detox so gradually the w/d are again basically non-existant.

Good luck guys, and being someone with much more methadone experience ( both in and out of clinics) I will be happy to answer any questions you guys have.

after my recent miserable 150 day detox, i would definately reccomend you stay away from methadone.

hey there i just got back from the clinic...assessment recommened i begin at 15 mg per day...which is fairly low, but still bad that i even let myself take it to tihs point....even though they were helpful i still couldnt help but have the impression they dont care all that much about you...but i figured i got myself in this situation so im gonna get myself out of it...id rather eventually have to withdrawal from a low dosage of methadone than continue illegal seeking pharmaceuticals and taking the risk of financial, health, and legal problems

so even if im taking a low dosage like 15 mg per day i wont be able to ween myself off of it....look i graduate in may and as soon as i graduate if i go to some tropical island and just chill for 3 months straight without doing anything, will the W/D be gone
