METHOCARBOMAL

by enemy48, Jun 25, 2008 12:09PM
Has anyone here used this medication and got addicted?

I got a script yesterday for the back/leg & fibro--------- **** sneaking in while I'm knee deep in hard labor work right now and eating way too many OTC's for nothing.

My normal deal would be, "oh good!  I'm in so much pain I don't have to fake it this time!"  I'd just go get my shot, script of painkillers and anti inflamitory.

I didn't go in at all.  I just called and asked for a muscle relaxer that would not make me drowsey.  That's what I got and took one before a meeting I had last night.  Well, I did get sleepy, but I was extremely bored too.  I had plenty rest night before, and not normally tired at 5:30 in the afternoon.

Did it help?  Yes it did, a little........like made me more comfortable sitting on hard wood bench for 2 hours, although I also had the aid of my tailbone & lumbar sponges.

Don't want addiction again.

Give imput.

I believe the methocarbomol is robaxin.....one of the lesser problematic muscle relaxers available. Didnt work well enough for me....I use flexeril (cyclobenzaprine) now and its both a lttle more effective and hard to have an addiction problem with.

My dad was on methocarbamol for years.  When he was in the army he was shot in the stomach and it came out through his spine.  He had to take something everyday for it.  The methoc. was the best thing for him.  It didn't interefere with any of his other meds.  He also took a percocet when he went to bed if he was in severe pain.  It always amazed me that he took drugs like this for 40+ years and never became addicted and I became addicted after one surgery.

Hope you are feelings better soon.

I took it after my car accident this year and it really didn't help me. And it hurt my stomach.. I don't think its addictive.

I hope you feel better!

I have been taking methocarbamol for 2 weeks. I had a serious addiction to Klonopin. When I take the 2 together it cuts my Klonopin usage down by 90% and I don't have the social anxiety that I had before. I have had 7 knee surgeries, 2 ankle surgeries, and 3 hand surgeries. SO, I have been on Hydrocodone at dosages as high as 200mgs a day and i am off of that thanks to this drug. I just have a little trouble sleeping with it. I hope this helpps.

that is soma...and it is addictive..not as bad as klonopin but can be addictive for some people...it breaks down in the body to something very similar to a benzo..that is why u feel less need for the benzo,,,be safe with it
