Mariyah and Marce4

by dakmba, May 24, 2007 12:00AM
Sorry I went missing for the last 10 days!  Believe it or not BOTH my computers went down at the same time!  Talk about withdrawal!!  My new HP notebook that I bought this past March took a hit and the LCD cracked.  HP repaired it for free. Thank God because that part (a new screen) was over $600.00.  My PC downstairs (the one my youngest son uses for World of Warcraft) kept shutting down and that really aggravated me.  My neighbor is a computer tech but was off on vacation so when he came back I grabbed him and he worked his magic and got it up and running again.  That same day my HP notebook came back to me by FedEx.  So all is back to normal with the computers in my house.

Anyway, I have been thinking about you Mariyah and if you have gone back to your doc to get the results of your mylegram.    After my mylegram my surgeon called me and told me I needed another MRI which I went and did last week.  He scared the **** out of me because he said he had talked to the neuroradiologist who thought that the reason why my contrast jammed up at L5 could be due to a tethered spinal cord or a tumor. So the MRI was done in a closed machine which produces much higher quality films.  Then I had to wait another week to see him.  I looked at the film and I am by no means an expert but I didn't see anything that looked like a tumor.  Everything looked symmetrical except of course the L5 S1 area which had alot of scar tissue.  So I saw my surgeon yesterday and we went over the fioms together.  He thinks he may not have taken enough bone when he did the laminectomy in Jan and wants to go back in and take more AND do a fusion with the rods and screws.  I am still thinking about it and probably will go for a 2nd and 3rd opinion.  I'd like to find a good surgeon to do a minimumly invasive procedure to just clean up any bone spurs, etc. I don't want a fusion!  He also pointed out that there is a little disc protrusion at L4.  I'm not even worried about that.

Marce??  How are you doing?  I know you had a fusion and I would love to talk to you about your experience also.

I also told him that I was not able to control my pain with the 4 Norcos a day and that it usually requires 6.  So he wrote me a new script to handle that.  I have to say that he has been very understanding about my needs for pain control. I just wish I didn't need them at all!  I also expressed my concern about adequate pain control when I have this next surgery.  I know I have built up a tolerance and will require more than the normal after the surgery.  I wanted to cry when he said he would put me on Oxycontin for about 3 weeks and then wean me off.  I don't want stronger stuff.  I told him I just wanted my life back!

I haven't read through any of the posts yet so I will go back and see what has been happening.  Hopefully there will be good news!
