Mariyah??

Mariyah???  I've been thinking about you a lot today.  I hope you can post soon and let us know how your mylegram went this afternoon.  I saw my ortho surgeon today and I guessed right.  He told me that the radiologist that did my mylegram called him to discuss the contrast stopping at L5.  He said he is going to discuss next steps with a neurologist colleague this week after reviewing all the CT's and MRI's together.  He said it would probably be a good idea for to to start wrapping my brain around getting a fusion SOON.  I am not going there!  He also gave me a script for Neurotin (used for diabetic neuropathy-I am not diabetic but I hear it works for some folks) and told me to get started on it.  He gavve my Lyrica 2 months ago and that made me feel yucky so I stopped taking it. I sewar the Lyrica made me eyes feel llike they were crossing.  I think Lyrica is the new Neurotin with less adverse side effects.  GOD!  I am sick of dealing with all this.  My ortho also mentioned that a patient of his who had a laminectomy with a fusion right about the same time I (laminectomy without fusion) did is now off his pain meds. I think he wants me off the meds.  That patient is up to 1 1/2 miles of walking a day but just can't seem to get that last 1/2 miles under his belt.  So 3+ months after surgery the goal is to be able to walk 2 miles. Holy Moly! I don't think I can wrap my mind around a surgery that is going to disable me to that point. I have heard and read about too many folks that are worse after a lumbar fusion (cervical ones seem to do much better with a fusion) or it works for a while and then they get back and leg pains again.  I'm pretty wiped out from discussing all this with him today.  I know as a patient I have choices and options.  I will be looking for those options starting tomorrow.

I hope your mylegram procedure was bearable.  I am sure you are glad that it is over.  Now all you have to do is wait for the results!
