Mercury Poisoning!

Hello,

Well, my question is about mercury poisoning. Whilst I was a little child around 4th grade or so and when the mercury thermometers were still fairly common, I broke a few of them myself and has been exposed to the mercury inside. I have never told my parents about it and hid the details about it because that's what a child usually does.

Although I do not feel anything bad or disturbing right now, I fear that what happened before may have long-term effects that may emerge in the future. Do you think that I should be overly cynical about my exposure to mercury long ago? Or is it just a trifling worry? If I should be concerned, what steps should I take?
