Hello, Vanessa!
I am in a "situation" very similar to yours, right now.  I have oteoschlerosis(over-calcification of the bones in ears).  Anyways, long story short, I had several reconstruction surgeries, back-to-back, and whoops!  I'm addicted to Vicodin and Percocets.
Unfortunately, my Husband, who is an Iraq veteran, also has an addiction to methadone(much heavier than mine).  After awhile, I stopped buying Vic's and perc's off the street(My Dr. Cut me off, after awhile), and began taking his methadone.  At one point, about 4 years ago, I had only been on them for about a year, and my Husband just stopped giving them to me.  I went through a REALLY NASTY Withdrawal, where I was unable to leave my bedroom, without assistance, for nearly 2 weeks.  When I finally got out, I was very sick, dehydrated, and in a horrible state of mind.  I left my Husband for 4 months, and finished detoxing at my parents' house.  I ended up relapsing, shortly after I left my parents' house.  I got back with my Husband, but after nearly dying from an overdose, I got myself into a Suboxone clinic.  The Sub clinic lasted 2 years, but in the last 4 months, I have been back on methadone, about 10 to 20mgs a day.
I have 4 children, 3 that live with me.  In the past 5 years, they have gone through hell, right along with me!  I am ashamed and embarrassed of who I have become, while addicted to methadone.  I want so much more for them.  So a few weeks ago, I started tapering down from 10mgs, and today I'm at 1.  I have one more sliver of my 10mg tablet, which I'm taking tomorrow, and that's that!
This has turned out to be a much longer post than I had expected, but I really just wanted to tell you that you are not alone!  Millions of people are probably going through the same things that you and I are, right now.  RX pill abuse is at an epidemic level.
Right now, I have armed myself with several Amino-Acids, a good quality multi-vitamin that covers the mineral spectrum as well, Vitamin C, D3, E, Potassium, Calcium-Magnesium....Also, my Family Dr. Prescribed, clonidine and something else for nausea and vomiting, which I have yet to experience(crossing my fingers). I have an anxiety disorder and mild depression.  My Psychiatrist has prescribed Wellbuterin(which I like, because I also have AADHD, and it's very helpful, and not an amphetamine, which can also be VERY Addictive!).  I've been on Paxil for 15yrs, and am currently being weened off of that.  The two Medications that I'm hoping will really help me through this, are Gabbapentin and Lamictil, which I also take for anxiety and depression.  The Gabapentin helps a lot with the RLS.
Well, that's my story.  I hope that you and I can both rid ourselves of this monster!  I also am going into an IOP, on the ninth of this month.  I hope that you have the support of loved ones, as I feel that, that's as equally important as any treatment, one can prescribe.
God-speed, Vanessa, and God Bless you and your children.  You'll get through this, and come out so much happier and healthier, for yourself and your children.  I think I read someone on this post, stating, " You just have to be ok, with not being ok."  I think about those words, and I also try to remember always, that this too shall pass.

Hello and welcome. What mg were you taking before your taper started?

No wonder you feel so terrible.
That was an extremely fast taper. Why did you get tapered so quickly?
Methadone taper is best tolerated at a much slower pace.

You were tapered and completely off in two weeks?
You poor girl.

Hot epsom salt baths, magnesium/calcium supplements, drink protein shakes, stay hydrated,.
Imodium for tummy issues.
Keep posting for support,
Debbie
