Methadone Detox

I went thrugh detox 5/8/08-5/11/08, Then ended up in the hospital from 5/13-5/18/08. During this time, I did not eat, stayed in bed and just lost all my strength. Today is the 27th and I still feel like ****. My stomach hurts, and my body still hurts. I just don't have any energy at all and I am very depressed. They have me on Prozac. Can someone please tell me how much longer I'm going to feel this way. It is really bringing me down.

thanks

Yes that methadone will take that long.. It has a long half life. I was on it for 8mos. I took about 30mgs. that was my daily dose. Then I tapered down to about 15 to 20mgs. The w/d's for me were so bad that I ended up back on the pain pills to kick the methadone. I thought I was gonna die. You won't, but felt that way. My last dose of methadone was march 26, 08. I am now battling the pain pills. It is never ending.. At least to me the w/d's are not as bad or long from the pain pills..

Best of luck to you..

No problem at all - if I think of much else i will tell you - do stay on this forum as you will get a lot of help from others that have different experiences. Check out the Thomas Recipe and the amino acid protocol posted here with med help......do you have any other pain meds available? The methadone is a bad one....hot showers/baths are a good thing for you.....use a heating pad on legs and stomach if you have problems there....and remember that the withdrawals will not kill you. They are extremely uncomfortable but not deadly. And you are already so far into getting done - stay strong

I've been on pain meds for 2 years. But on Methadone for about 8-9 months. My finace gave them to me and got me addicted. I've never been addicted before. Now I'm finding out that Methadone is the hardest to come off of. I used every day, weaned down to 40 mg a day. Had to have that just to function. Then he kicked me out, no place to go, and addicted. I'm staying with my daughter right now and I'm scared. I feel so bad. I just talked with someone who said i've got 6-8 weeks. I'm so depressed. Thanks for all your advice.

What was your historical use? What you took and how long you took it matters just like how much you were doing....be sure to keep hydration up - lots of fruit (no citric) juices - gatorade or pedialyte if you are vomiting or have the runs...exercise can make a big difference - take a walk around the block, ride a bicycle, just get active for awhile...banannas are a good thing - try not to dwell on how you feel...watch a good comedy, read a book - read previous posts - read the health pages (link at lower right of page). Things should start looking up for you shortly - keep posting

Go ahead. Rain on my parade, I nned to know what is enstore for me. I know nothing about what is going on with me. I would rather know what to expect, than to keep hoping every day that I'm going to feel better. Please let me know how long this last.
Thanks

Don't want to rain on your parade, so i will wish you luck instead. Methadone is one of the hardest things I have ever quit. But I did it and I don't regret it at all. I would say to use the Amino Acid Protocol - if you are taking Prozac you probably shouldnt do a couple of the amino's....link is posted bottom right of page - and also read the Health Pages on PAWS - use ensure (or Walgreens store brand) or advantage liquid nutrition if you arent eating. Smoothy type yogurt drinks helped my stomach....might be reason to take prilosec if the stomach bothers you. Use a heating pad on legs and abdomin for muscle problems....the L=tyrosine is used for energy in the amino program.....keep posting and reading and best of luck to you -
